Tom has practiced family law since he qualified in 2003. Since then, he has developed specialisms in multiple areas of family law, including children, and he heads up our Children team. Tom also regularly helps clients in separating their finances following the end of a relationship or marriage and continues to represent children in public law cases. In addition, Tom advises in relation to matters concerning Domestic Abuse. Tom advises on surrogacy queries and assists clients on parental orders, donor conception and separation, as well as other LGBTQ+ matters. Tom is a member of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme and is a Resolution accredited specialist. Until very recently, he was also a qualified family mediator and now utilises those skills when seeking to establish a non-contentious approach towards family matters, where appropriate.

Tom Powles a very knowledgable solicitor and made me feel at easy at every opportunity. His recommendations of representatives for specific hearings were great and always kept in touch for reassurance and updates. I highly recommend Tom Powles, B+K as a whole, I am glad i chose them to represent me in such difficult times. I have used Tom Powles services for many years with regard to child arrangement matters, he is very experienced, reliable and personable. He listens and quickly identifies key relevant points, reviews all correspondence from other parties and formulates sensible responses and options. He suggests best options for best outcomes and carries that through comprehensively either out of court or in court, sometimes at short notice.
Offers advice overall on best ways to proceed and clearly explains any costs and challenges.

Mr Powles worked very professionally and had great knowledge in child access matters, he worked in a very professional but also very personal manner, answering questions and keeping me informed at all stages of progress. His ability and experience aided in obtaining a child access order after the breakdown of the marriage and the unlawful actions of the other parent.

Tom provided me with helpful advice over a long period of time as and when I needed it. He was clear, kind and caring and I understood the implications for all decision making.
