I instructed George on a complex transaction involving the disposal of properties from a freehold holding company into an SPV, alongside a portfolio mortgage as part of a wider company restructuring. The lender’s solicitors were demanding and raised continual additional enquiries. He remained hands-on throughout and did not simply relay correspondence - he dealt with issues directly, explained risks clearly and kept the transaction progressing. Communication was succinct and consistent, and expectations were realistic. When pressure increased close to completion he stayed calm, responsive and focused on getting the deal over the line. This was far beyond routine conveyancing and required both technical knowledge and practical judgement. The matter completed successfully and I would confidently instruct him again for complex property work.

I had an extremely disappointing experience working with Gemma Ball during what was supposed to be my first property purchase. From the beginning, the communication was consistently poor. As a first-time buyer, I expected at least some guidance or explanation throughout the process, but instead, I was only sent generic templates with no tailored support or clarification. I was left to figure everything out myself, which caused a lot of stress and confusion. I constantly had to chase her for updates or answers – not once did she take initiative or show any sense of responsibility. There was no effort to walk me through the legal steps or help me understand the process. I felt completely unsupported. After already waiting 8 weeks into the process, she finally informed me—only after I chased her again—that we had received replies from the seller’s solicitor. She then casually stated that it would take another 8 weeks before we could sign. That meant a total of 4 months to buy a brand new, empty property with no chain and no delays on the seller's side. Completely unacceptable and, frankly, ridiculous. This experience left me incredibly frustrated and disillusioned with the conveyancing process. I would not recommend her services to anyone, especially first-time buyers who need a solicitor that communicates clearly and takes some ownership of the process. In my opinion, Gemma was passive, uncommunicative, and lacked the professionalism and care I expected from a solicitor handling such an important transaction. If you're a first-time buyer, I would not recommend her at all — you deserve someone who will guide you and take responsibility for their role in the process.

As a first time property seller acting as an attorney of an LPA, i was overwhelmed by the whole process and needed to find a firm that i could work with Foskett Marr Gadsby & Head LLP, and i am so glad i did. From first contact with Dorothy i felt assured they were the right people for the job. I was advised every step of the way by Dorothy and her knowledge and experience proved invaluable. They made a daunting experience for me very comfortable and the speed and proactiveness from them was exemplary. I will not hesitate to use the firm agin in the future.

This was our second time using Foskett Marr. 5 years ago they helped us with a flat purchase and this time they helped us sell the flat and also purchase a house. Both times Tara handled our case. We can’t thank Tara enough, throughout she was extremely responsive and efficient. Hopefully we will not have to move again but if we do then we know who to call.
I would give 0 stars if I could. I do not recommend first time buyers using Tara at Foskett Marr Gadsby as they take advantage of your inexperience. There are other practices out there that offer a No Sale No Fee conveyancing service so if you’re a buyer, please go with one of those practices. I went with AVRillo and the service was seamless with an online portal for me to track everything. Foskett Marr Gadsby charged me c.£4000-5000 for two purchases that uncontrollably fell through on leasehold flats both below £300,000 (apparently discounted from £11,000!!). This is absolutely ridiculous especially as neither of those cases reached exchange let alone completion. They are now scaremongering me to pay this by X date or it will accrue interest. No ethics or morals at all. Please take your business elsewhere!!! Update after 7 months - they chased me and chased me to pay the outstanding amount. They forced me to pay in monthly instalments otherwise threatened me with legal action. So I succumbed and paid these monthly instalments. However when there were about 2 instalments left, I wrote them a lengthy email requesting a detailed itemised bill with a detailed explanation and review of outstanding charges… and I never heard from them again. Frances Beck who works as part of their “credit control” department would ring me day after day chasing me for my “outstanding debt” and would threaten me with legal action action if I didn’t pay. But after that email, I never heard from her or the firm again. This whole practice is a poor excuse for a law firm. I’m seeing reviews roll in with similar cases so please know that you don’t have to pay the so called “debt”. Definitely take your business elsewhere.

Dorothy Purday was fantastic throughout both our sale and purchase. Despite the buyers’ solicitors being extremely slow and difficult to deal with, Dorothy went above and beyond to keep everything moving and get both transactions completed. Her communication was excellent, with consistently prompt and clear replies, and she left no stone unturned. I used Debra Rose for a property purchase following a recommendation from a friend. She was unbelievable from start to finish. All replies were super quick (immediate most of the time) and she proved her knowledge and ability on a number of occasions dealing with the sellers incompetent solicitors and quickly resolving issues they simply did not have the ability to. I will never use anyone else.
