Complaints Manager silent for over 8 weeks – breaking their own policy Review:

Rhian Whiting She acknowledged my complaint on 16 December with “bear with me and I will respond fully when I am able to do so”. The firm’s own complaints policy promises a final response within 8 weeks. That deadline expired on 10 February 2026. It is now March – no response, no update, no final decision. If the Complaints Manager can ignore their own 8-week policy for over 8 weeks, what does that say about the firm’s standards? This follows 70+ days delay in probate payment after ID verification on 30 September 2025, ignored SARs, and misleading statements about insurance. Complaints live with SRA and Legal Ombudsman. Avoid for probate or any matter requiring reliable service.

GDPR non compliance

I’ve got complaints in to the SRA and LeO SAR’s requests in and the day after I eventually received my INHERITANCE I get this from the data controller “ Stephen, I am yet to receive from you the completed form, or one composite email which details the scope of the Subject Access Request. In any event, I have been informed that you are not a client of this firm. We are therefore prohibited, on regulatory and legal grounds, from providing you with the information you have requested in previous emails. Any and all information and documents we have been provided with was as part of our instructions from our client and related solely to the handling of this matter. We specifically refer you to paragraph 6 of the Solicitors Code of Conduct for Firms, Confidentiality and Disclosure. To disclose any information would prejudice our client and the Firm. We are required to assess your request against our legal and professional duties and we are bound to keep the affairs of current and former clients confidential. We are further bound by the SRA Principles to always act in our clients’ best interests, Principle 7 and to act in a way that upholds public trust and confidence in the solicitors' profession and in legal services provided by authorised persons, Principle 2. Further to this, we are also bound by the doctrine of privilege, which is a fundamental common law right which enables clients to enter into confidential communications with their Solicitor. This right is protected by the UK Legal System to allow for the proper administration of justice. We have balanced your request against our duties and the needs of our client and we reject your request, in its entirety, on the grounds of confidentiality and privilege. Kind regards, Tom” Copy of email received

Wills, Trusts & Probate

70+ days waiting for inheritance payment

If you’re considering Robertsons Solicitors in Cardiff for probate, please read this first. My identity was accepted on 30 September 2025. 70+ days later – still no payment. A senior partner personally claimed missing-beneficiary insurance was “already in place” – yet no policy has ever been produced. Three Subject Access Requests sent – two deliberately ignored for days. Formal complaints live with SRA and Legal Ombudsman. Basic communication and courtesy completely absent. Avoid for estate administration. Stephen Giblin December 2025

Let down by poor responses and failed promises

Approached Robertsons in Barry for support with a family matter. Initially felt listened to and their plan of action was reassuring but quickly let down by non response to emails and phone calls after promises by them around timescales completely fake. Happy to lure you in, get the money and then do nothing. Felt let down
