I would highly recommend Clarke & Son for conveyancing. The process has been smooth, streamlined and i have been kept well informed along the way. Marie Pym & Rebecca Pumford have both been there as and when needed. I have also chosen and instructed Marie for my onward purchase in Romsey. Absolutely excellent. We were recommended Clarke and Son by a friend and are so grateful for it. We didn't have the simplest process in purchasing, for external reasons, but Simon was excellent, fast to respond and polite form start to end. Marie and her team recently provided conveyancing for the sale of our first house and the purchase of the second and my wife and I could not be happier. From Initial conversations right the way through to finishing up the last bits and pieces related to completion, Marie, Sue and co. have been absolutely fantastic. We were impressed with the attention to detail, sage advice and overall competence and care that was given to our case from start to finish. I cannot recommend Marie & Clarke & Son highly enough. I cannot begin to express our extreme dissatisfaction with Clarke & Sons, and in particular Marie Pym. They handled my mother's sale of her house in 2025, and I ended up complaining to the Director in regard to Marie's glacier like pace of work and her complete disregard for her elderly client's situation. Subsequently I received an apology from the Director, along with a discount on services rendered due their admission of poor service. Fast forward to 2026, and in the hope that the previous complaint would actually effect a different result, we handed Mum's purchase of her new house to them once again. It is at this point that I should probably take full responsibility for that decision. A leopard does not change its spots and, true to that ode, exactly the same poor service, glacial responses to emails (two weeks, sometimes three) and a complete disregard to the needs of a 91 year old woman came to the fore once again. My advice, for what its worth, is to avoid them (and particularly Marie) at all costs, unless you want a long, frustrating and unnecessarily drawn out affair with little regard for professional and timely service.
It is regretful you consider that the service your mother received did not meet your expectations. We have investigated and responded to you directly. We consider that the service provided was appropriate in all the circumstances. We would observe that the transaction completed promptly and within a reasonable timescale. We do not wish to discuss further on a public platform in the interests of client confidentiality. We appreciate that we do not take the same view on this occasion. When there was an issue on a previous occasion we took note of that. When issues occur we take these seriously as part of our commitment to providing a good service to all our clients. In particular, we support the work undertaken by our employee, Marie Pym, and consider that on all occasions she acted professionally and in the best interests of our client.

My family generations back had used Clarke & Son for Wills and dealing with Estates, so it just seemed fitting that when my mum passed last year I instructed Claire Redhead to deal with her estate. Mum had been in care home with mixed dementia so it was an impossible task for me to deal with the fees for that and the remainder of the estate as there was also a property to sell which another solicitor was acting. I warmed to Claire straight from the start. She could see that I was distraught and spent time with me face to face, emails and over the phone explaining everything in detail. If I didn't understand she would break it down so I did. Claire always kept me up to date of events as they passed. I didn't once feel pressurised. She was always there for me. If you want a reliable, trustworthy solicitor then Clare Redhead is the person you need.
