Thank you for your work on my recently concluded children and finances cases. A grim year, but ultimately a good outcome, and I felt in very good hands throughout with you looking after both cases. As things progressed, Emma Ritchie took on most of the day-to-day work on both elements of my case. Emma was excellent. She was on top of everything at all times, and always updated me by phone if something changed suddenly. Her advice was lucid, on point, and appropriately firm where needed. Most of all, she is calm and unflappable, with a welcome dry humour, and I was very glad to have her at my side during my first and I very much hope my last experience of the inside of a courtroom. I would not hesitate to recommend Emma and Arabella to any friend or family member who finds themselves in the same situation.

The receptionist was delightful, beautiful place of business, charming greeting and welcome by a lovely gentleman and superb customer care, advice and support by a fabulous lady Solicitor. Dan Norris had £12k put in his account to use. He prolonged correspondence and did not fact check any information given to him. Wasted the funds and would not detail how it was spent. Ongoing complaint currently with the ombudsman and resolution. Avoid this company.

Recently, my mother and I met with solicitor Daniel Norris from KJ smiths and Barrister Tracey At her Chamber No18 regarding a family law matter. Over the two meetings we had with them, they were very professional and offered honest advice and reassurance, in an extremely caring and friendly manner. We were able to come away from the final meeting with confidence that should we require further help in the future that they would be there to continue their support. We would strongly recommend both of these professionals for the law services they provide.

Daniel Norris

I am deeply disappointed with the service provided by Kate Evans at KJ Smith Solicitors and would strongly advise avoiding the Oxford branch altogether. Even in urgent situations, there are far better solicitors available locally. Her case management is non-existent. Her legal knowledge appears largely theoretical, with no meaningful engagement or ability — or willingness — to apply it to the realities of a complex case. She is comfortable producing lengthy but basic emails at £260 + VAT per hour, yet that is essentially all that is offered. She charged £2,500 to read a court bundle and answer six questions in writing. However, after the initial consultation, I was never offered another in-person meeting, solely because I had not signed a full retainer. Unless you commit thousands more upfront, meaningful engagement appears to be off the table. To be clear, I can read, write, complete court forms, and conduct legal research myself. What I was paying for was professional guidance, strategic case management, and experienced direction. Instead, I received generic written responses, no discussion, no practical advice, and no sense of ownership of the case. Overall, the service provided barely qualifies as a professional service at all. With sufficient time, online resources, and AI support, the same level of information can be obtained independently. I awarded two stars solely for the effort of drafting lengthy emails. Beyond that, I received no significant value, no support, and no professional engagement.

Lydia has been absolutely amazing helping me with the process of my financial order and negotiations for my divorce. She was the only lawyer to speak to me first in person and set out the facts straight on what I needed to do for free. After that and deciding to go ahead with her taking my case she has been nothing but informative, straight to point, efficient as well as so patient and empathetic with me regarding any situation, issues or questions I have. She truly had my back and is so passionate in what she does . Everything has been sorted now and can’t recommend her enough!
