A waist of time and money.

My shop was partially closed because a damage caused by a storm. After instructing irwin mitchel they needed three month till they sent the first letter to opponent. Another letter with few sentences which can be written in ten minutes the solicitor spent one month to send it. Conclusion five months been waisted and this firm does not seems to take me any where!
Inappropriate legal work, unprofessional, irresponsible, time and money wasters.
.dealt with spencer lawn.
Highly Not to be recommended.

Worst claim handler ever?

Complete waste of time if you engage this firm if you want your claim properly handled by a qualified and experienced practitioner.
They completely mishandled my claim against a roofing contractor and worse failed to address the many issues when I complained to them by:
1) Assigning the 'assessment' of my claim to a "paralegal". Shorthand for "unqualified and/or inexperienced" in my case.
2) When I questioned a long list of fundamental errors and misunderstanding of my claim in her initial 'assessment' of my claim, this "paralegal" could not (or would not) address ANY of my specific concerns. She demonstrated a complete lack of very basic knowledge (just one example was asking me why I was claiming for a new TV aerial instead of getting a quote to repair the completely destroyed item when anyone with common sense would know that the cost of replacing a TV aerial is primarily in the fitting and adjusting and they NOT repairable.
3) The paralegal then invented a fictitious 'value' for the company I was claiming against that was very low and then used this to dismiss my claim as being 'unrecoverable' against the contractor.
4) When I complained the same paralegal then demanded that I provide an (unnecessary at this stage) expert witness statement that conformed to CPR part 2 when the brief she was working to was an initial assessment of the value and viability of my claim, not in preparing an application to court. This paralegal then used this for unnecessary demand to cease acting on my claim.
5) When I made a complaint about the apparent inexperience and lack of qualifications of the paralegal her manager failed to address any of the specific issue I complained about and simply closed ranks with her paralegal and summarily dismissed my complaints.
Altogether very poor service and you would be better of using a local (qualified and experienced) solicitor rather than this firm

Be careful as to whom you put down as an executor of a will because if it's a solicitors the charges for probate/dealing with the estate "could" run into thousands as per the experience here, and it's difficult to nigh impossible to remove them without having to go through a court. Whether it's charging by the hour or charging a percentage of the estate I am sure many don't realise how much this will cost because of course when you write a will you may have no idea of the fees that they will charge. So my advice is if your loved one has made a will through a solicitor maybe an uncomfortable conversation may be best to avoid a massive shock later. We will never know if using Irwin Mitchell as an executor was the wish of our loved one or if possible (alleged) "persuasion" was a factor when the will was being set up. I know our loved one would be horrified if they were still here.

READ THIS URGENTLY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!
Not Happy ( Always read the bad reviews then you get a true picture of how bad things can go )
Mum went into a care home for 2.5 years she passed away recently
She was a very well read and intellectual person even though she was diagnosed with dementia I believe till her final days she knew everything what was happening
In her day to day life without warning 6 months before she died she stopped eating I will never know why she did this but I believe it was her way of dealing with her situation and protecting her family from the Wolves
IM were acting deputies for financial affairs
They didn't visit mum once in all the time she was in care to talk to her regards her needs and means assessments also I'm amazed they didn't even talk to her regards making a will
Even after 2.5 years they still didn't even manage to complete Court Of Protection
But let's be clear and say they were charging from day one soon as mum was in care
I'm the next of kin and am now responsible for my mums outstanding debts
I have a bill for 12.000 and looking through it on many multiple occasions they have charged £176 for 10 minutes work
I have asked repeatedly for information relating to nhs end of life funding also possible benefits like attendance allowance which mum could have been entitled
Mum worked for many years in the NHS and paid her national insurance contributions all her life
I have a huge care bill of £90.000
The big question is this bill correct? how can I ever know the answer? Because the fact is the assessments weren't done from the start?
This is a shocking situation and I am finding it extremely stressful to deal with
Chichester Council were responsible for choosing Irwin Mitchell as their solicitor of choice to deal with my mum's affairs
Had I been given the choice it would have been Emily Allchurch from Owen Kenny the truth is I would've paid double to her because she is the best at taking care of the elderly and because it's knowing that your loved ones are in safe hands that matters (NOT MONEY)
I declined the deputyship because it looked very complicated and difficult to do
I simply didn't want to make any mistakes
Irwin Mitchell were in constant contact with me via email over the time mum was in care little did I realise that every email was costing atleast £176 I feel sick about that if only I had known I wouldn't have spoken to them at all
It's shocking to think of it now I bet they loved getting emails from family I can imagine them rubbing their hands together
One thing is for sure they didn't once mention fees to me nothing well hidden
I now have a long road ahead and first I need to contact the court of protection so they can review the fees as I'm not happy
I now believe that I could have done a much better job by myself as within the first 14 days of mum going into care I would have made sure she was correctly assessed
It's funny reading IM website because it's clear they know about deputyship because for £500 they will sell you a specialist deputies package which will guide you step by step how to be successful at it
Take my advice I have witnessed all the information for free online as it should be
I guess I'm lost for words
The worst part is that I thought she was in safe hands and everything was being taken care of for her
I really hope I don't get a reply from them especially the reply that says we are looking into the matter or that they are sorry for my loss
Please send me all the case notes and public guardian reports so I can try to fix this situation
Do you really believe that you are entitled to 12000 ????
I am writing this review in the middle of the night because I carnt sleep most nights I wake up and it's because of this and the injustice
I believe we are all accountable for our actions and decisions whether your a cleaner or solicitor we are all the same and will we have a clear conscience when our time comes ? Whatever job you do it should be done properly and with pride so you can look back and say I did my best and earned my rewards in an honest manner
I was kept in the darkness all the time they were in charge the only time they would be interested in me was to kick me out of mums house so they could sell it and get paid that's the fact of the matter
So what are you going to do Irwin Mitchell?
When you all get up in the morning please do me a favour and take a long hard look at yourself in the bathroom mirror WHAT DO YOU SEE ???

Poor recommendation

Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, have an excellent reputation. Hence as to why I contacted them with my query. The person I spoke to had taken my details down, allegedly sought advice then claimed that they no longer deal with this particular area in question. This is despite there being numerous details online claiming to do so. They said that they could put me through to another solicitor who could assist me. But when I did my background checks this recommended firm were rated average on Trustpilot and had terrible reviews on Google. I cannot understand as to why an organisation rated Excellent would forward clients to an average firm. Methinks that perhaps the introduction fee that they receive maybe the reason.

Great service from Danielle Parsons and the team in the London employment department. Danielle was very helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and very friendly at the same time, which made it a true pleasure to work with her. Also very efficient when the clock is on - which is important! Deborah gave frank and constructive advice and negotiated fiercely on my behalf. As a family we have used the services of Irwin Mitchell Solicitors for well over a decade. All parts of this service have been exceptional, professional and transparent throughout. Some of the processes we were going through were very stressful, but they had our back all the way and guided us. Hanan Harrington, Paralegal at the court of protection for IM has been tremendous, sure and steadfast, she will go out of her way to make you feel at ease, and has a flare for the personable approach. We will always be happy to recommend her and her services. Hanan has helped us though many transitions confidently. She has been the key to get through many doors. Waste of money

I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone! If you think very bad things won’t happen to you and it’s about someone else, guess what? They will. I thought so too until they happened! Be careful and care about yourself! Waist of money, time, extreme challenges accompanied by severe poor service in the midst of all problems.
