had an incredibly disappointing experience with this solicitor while trying to purchase a flat in London. I paid £1,500 in July to start the process, but I did not receive any updates or communication until the 29th of August. When I did finally hear back, the process was painfully slow, with weeks of delays and very unclear information about the progress of my case. After numerous calls, the solicitor finally explained at the beginning of October that there was an issue with the shareholding situation of the property and advised me not to buy it for this reason. Following this, I emailed the solicitor to clarify the final cost of the process. I asked if they could confirm that the cost so far was £1,200 plus VAT. The solicitor responded, saying that, so far, this was correct and that the time incurred amounted to £1,200 (discounted) plus VAT. Despite this, I did not receive an invoice for weeks. Then, two months later, I suddenly received an email demanding an additional £876. Throughout the process, I felt completely unsupported and left in the dark. On top of that, I was repeatedly chased by the estate agent, who made dismissive and offensive comments implying that, as a foreigner, I didn’t understand the process. I raised this issue with my solicitor, but they failed to take any action or advocate for me in any way. I should also mention that this is not my first negative experience with this solicitor. In a previous matter regarding a commercial lease, they charged me £4,500 for a lease I never signed, all while I was in the hospital following a pregnancy loss. After months of delays and poor communication, I was left with a failed process, additional unexpected costs, and no resolution. I believe it is entirely unfair to demand additional money after such a lack of service and transparency. As a single, foreign woman, I strongly feel that I was taken advantage of during this process. The lack of communication, professionalism, and empathy was unacceptable. I have since contacted the Solicitors Regulation Authority to raise my concerns. To anyone considering using this solicitor, be warned: expect huge delays, unclear communication, and a complete lack of action or support.
