Employment work in England covers an individual's relationship with an employer: contracts, pay and holiday, working time and the National Minimum Wage, disciplinary and dismissal disputes, redundancy and family‑leave rights, discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 and status issues including TUPE. An employment solicitor drafts and negotiates contracts and handbooks, prepares and reviews settlement agreements, advises on disciplinary and redundancy processes, gathers payroll and personnel records, and represents clients at ACAS early conciliation and Employment Tribunal hearings. These matters are governed by the Employment Rights Act 1996, Equality Act 2010 and Working Time Regulations.

“I had quite a complicated (to me) settlement agreement that needed ratifying. Tom Burton Wills was reassuring and kowledgable and the process was completed with the minmum of fuss and time. I would not hesitate in recommending him to others.”

Jason Pradhan
Associate Solicitor
“Jason provided excellent support during a very stressful employment matter. His advice was clear, practical and strategic, and his guidance on the legal position and negotiation approach was instrumental in helping me achieve the outcome I did. He quickly helped me understand the options open to me, explained the risks in a way that was easy to understand, and helped me approach the process with much more confidence. I really appreciated not only his technical knowledge, but also his calm, thoughtful and human approach throughout. I would highly recommend Jason to anyone dealing with an employment dispute, especially if they need clear advice, strong strategy and practical judgement.”

Rankings are worked out mainly from client reviews: the ratings clients give and how recent the reviews are, with reviews about Employment counting most. We also take into account how much of a firm's work is in Employment.
Twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday, so new reviews are reflected quickly. This list was last updated on 29 October 2026.
