Friendly, prompt service

I recently used Brearley's in Brighouse to write my will and set up Power of Attorney. I found it easy to make an appointment, I received a friendly welcome and excellent advice and service.
Emma Ingram was very knowledgable and explained points very clearly. Everything was processed promptly. It was also heartening to see a young trainee sitting in and thus receiving an excellent grounding in the work.

Brearleys Brighouse

What can I say, well…. Chloe is the most unprofessional supposedly professional I have ever had to deal with. They keep my money for 2.5months before deciding there was a conflict of interest, even though this was for a purchase of another house and they were acting on behalf of me and my ex wife on the sale of our property. I them had to get a new solicitor with 4 weeks to go or I would have been homeless.

The sale of our property which originally had no on either side took well over 5 months with numerous issues and problem I have never encountered and I have bought and sold c10 properties.

If by chance they were also acting on behalf of my wife for her divorce so it all felt a bit personal.

If you need something done quite quickly or just within normal expected timescales, I would stay well clear.

Ps Emma Whittington the secretary is lovely and I do feel sorry for her.

I wish I could give 0 stars

Terrible communication, I had to chase for updates most of the times. They kept missing important points and this caused delays and extra stress, for me and all the parts involved.
I had the impression they didn't even read the emails properly, as I was asking 3 questions and got answered only 1, forcing me to chase again and then they told me if I kept sending so many emails they had to charge me extra.

I had to call third parties to get things sorted.
I could never speak on the phone with my solicitor.
Always busy and never calling me back.

Poor Service

Property Sale. No chain.
Unfortunately I have to agree with all the negative reviews, the service received was unbelievably poor.
From appointing them to completion it took 9 MONTHS!! Without the excellent service received from Peter David Huddersfield and my own intervention the sale would have fallen through.
Dealing with Joanne and Chloe was hard work, too many times I had to chase for updates and even make calls to third parties myself. I got the impression they preferred to hide behind emails instead of picking up the phone. Their communication skills are terrible. The lack of any urgency from them contributed to holding up the sale at huge costs to myself. It’s clear the Brighouse office is poorly managed as the staff are evidently in capable of coping with their workloads.
If you wish to avoid a lengthy sale and additional stress I strongly recommend you avoid this company. Take note of the reviews!
