honestly can’t recommend Elise Wilks highly enough. I contacted Elise during a redundancy and settlement agreement situation that I found pretty stressful, particularly because of some very broad post-termination restrictions in my employment contract. From the outset, Elise was approachable, straightforward and explained everything in normal language rather than drowning me in legal jargon. What impressed me most was that she didn’t simply review the agreement and tell me where to sign. She genuinely looked after my interests. When she wasn’t comfortable with parts of the agreement, she was very clear that she couldn’t recommend that I sign it in its existing form and challenged my employer’s solicitors directly. As a result of her negotiations, several amendments were made, including the removal/change of clauses I was concerned about, removal of the requirement to disclose details of future employment, and most importantly a reduction in the post-termination restrictions from 12 months to 6 months. She also took the time to explain exactly what the restrictive covenants meant in practice and confirmed that they did not prevent me from continuing my career within the insurance industry, which was my biggest concern. Throughout the process I felt that Elise was actually on my side, rather than simply going through the motions to get a settlement agreement signed. She was professional, knowledgeable, responsive and prepared to push back when she believed something wasn’t reasonable. I’ve now reached a position where I’m comfortable with the agreement and can move forward, and a huge part of that is down to Elise. If anyone finds themselves dealing with redundancy, a settlement agreement or restrictive covenants and wants a solicitor who will genuinely scrutinise the agreement and fight their corner, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Elise. Thank you again, Elise — you’ve genuinely made a difficult situation much easier to deal with.
