Whoever the client and whatever the case, I give advice that is easy to understand, takes into account all legal points and, most importantly, is tailored to the individual client’s needs. I provide a professional and personal service which my clients rely on and expect and I am frequently recommended by individual and commercial clients. I am based in our Colchester office, and am available for a free, no obligation 15 minute telephone conversation on 01206 217318. My main focus is on advising commercial clients on a broad range of topics including holiday pay, IR35 and off-payroll working rules, GDPR including dealing with and responding to subject access requests and acting on a number of restrictive covenant cases, as well as complex claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination. As Head of the BLHR and Employment team and a partner of the firm, I am responsible for supporting and developing the team and driving marketing initiatives forward, so I understand the challenges businesses face. I also advise individual clients on a range of matters, including settlement agreements, contracts of employment, allegations of breach of restrictive covenants and tribunal claims. As a team we are committed to supporting our commercial clients with training to ensure their own team members fully understand the importance of procedure and getting things right. Our training includes investigations, disciplinary and grievances, equality, diversity and inclusion as well as mental health awareness to name but a few. As a member of Birkett Long’s Education team, I provide employment and HR related advice to our range of education clients in conjunction with colleagues.

    Great team, highly professional and knowledgeable!

    If only all solicitors were like Julie!

    Julie was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is incredibly personable and seemed to instantly understand our position and reasons behind decisions we were making.     Genuine care and support

    Julie worked with me through the pandemic, the support and guidance provided was exceptional - it was genuine care and support.
