Needed to do a severance agreement review mandated by law, and I knew in advance that I wanted to accept it so the review was purely a formality. Still, the approach by McCabe left me feeling a little uncomfortable, and if the matter was at all sensitive or complicated I would not have proceeded with them. For one, after I sent a general enquiry on how the process would work they basically responded saying that they would like to book a meeting and that if I agree to that I have already engaged them. This felt a bit predatory towards someone who may be going through a severance process that is already stressful and confusing. During the meeting itself, I got a basic explanation of legal terms which were clear to me anyway, and when I raised a single issue I wanted cleared up with my employer the solicitor had difficulty understanding the issue and suggested that I would need to clear it up myself or pay them additionally to clear it up. As my employer was paying around £500 for the consultation that lasted about 30 minutes, this felt unfair. It was also clear the solicitor never reviewed my employment contract before the meeting and had no intention of doing so. On the other hand, they were very efficient when it came to signing the paperwork, so everything progressed quickly. All in all, as I didn't really need much assistance and wasn't paying for it, I found the experience ok, but would not have been happy if I needed anything more can complex.
I had my initial consultation with Heather two years ago, and since then she has been an incredibly important asset throughout my family matter case. She has a very pragmatic approach, with clear strategies and a deep understanding of both the legal process and the potential pitfalls at every stage. She always knew the best approach to take and guided me with confidence during some very difficult times. What truly sets Heather apart is that she understands the human and emotional side involved in cases like mine. She supported me not only as an excellent solicitor, but also as someone who genuinely cared about achieving the best outcome for me personally. She also has an excellent network of barristers and always recommended the right person for each stage of the proceedings, which made a huge difference. I only have one word to describe her - SAVIOR. She helped me navigate through all the hardships during the proceedings. She did an outstanding job and absolutely deserves 5 stars. A very big thank you, Heather.
