Great service throughout purchase

The team I was assigned at Gilson Gray were fantastic. Letaye and Alice were incredible throughout; responding to all my queries, chasing sellers' solicitors often to keep things moving along and translating legal jargon for me to quickly digest. For me it really felt as though I had someone working with me to get the purchase through. I really appreciate their help throughout and would be more than happy to work with them again in the future.

I am incredibly grateful for the exceptional service provided by my solicitor Cristina during the sale of my property. Despite facing challenges from another solicitor firm, Cristina and Alisha went above and beyond to ensure a successful outcome. Their dedication and persistence were truly impressive.

Throughout the process, Cristina kept me informed and reassured, which made a stressful situation much more manageable. If it weren’t for her hard work and expertise, I believe my house wouldn’t have sold. I can’t thank Cristina and Alisha enough for their outstanding support. Highly recommend these solicitors.

Great Experience

We were total novices entering the house-buying process for the first time and had heard horror stories of solicitors who wouldn't correspond with you for days and kept you in the dark etc. Amanda (Carr) was phenomenal at correspondence and kept us up to date at every step. Our process got stuck for a while on some small issues and Amanda was amazing at chasing on our behalf. Really appreciated all the work she did for us and would highly recommend.

You get what you pay for...

We were recommended Gilson Gray by Bairstowe Eves estate agents (I'll write a separate review for them as they weren't great) so was hoping the process would be swift and smooth.

Overall everything was done as per agreed and our Conveyancing Executive, Jo Carlton, was knowledgeable and friendly. However you'll find it will be difficult to get hold of her and you are 99.9% of the time either speaking to an offshore admin team who will take a message or be diverted to her voicemail so any urgent enquiries or questions will have to wait 1-2 days for a response.

We are a married couple new to buying a property so really would have benefited from a more guidance and I suppose hand-holding, however almost at every turn we were just emailed document after document as a "for your information" until the point of exchange to which we hadn't even seen what the contract said. Added to this the final invoice was incorrect and we needed to pay some additional money in order to correct the balance - my understanding was this the bank's fault and not theirs but I'll never know as no one explains anything...

Regardless the job was done, would I recommend them? No for new buyers or folks who need guidance, possibly for anyone's got lots of experience buying property and needs little/no guidance.

Even though the sale was very complex and also dealing with a 3rd party of an unusual nature the solicitors dealt with the sale with professionalism and understanding. Jo and Tom kept me upto date every step of the way. A big thank you to all involved for getting this over the line in a timely manner.
