His passport was at the British Embassy for visa processing so that he could be with me for the birth. Then, within just a few days, the situation escalated and all embassies were evacuated from Khartoum. I was devastated and completely helpless, not knowing how to bring my husband home safely. That’s when Diana Baxtor, one of the solicitors at this firm, stepped in. She tirelessly contacted the Home Office on my behalf and managed to secure exceptional permission for my husband to board an evacuation flight. Miraculously, he was able to get on the very last one.
