misdirection
I rang and explained my problem and was then offered a meeting with Nick, paid the £700 upfront and sent the paperwork; it was clear when he read it that it wasn't his area of specialism and I needed the family lawyers, but instead of cancelling and passing me over we went through a meeting where I learnt very little, he promised to hand me over quickly because of court dates, and that didn't happen so I was chasing myself. 10 days later he sent me a contract that was meaningless, and I queried some typos and errors but signed it to get the system to work to get me to the right place. Later I get another bill from Nick who estimates he spent another 10 hours traveling, work etc but says call it another 3-4 hours say and charged me nearly another £500, apparently it had taken considerable time to reply to my queries about the contracts typo and errors! Meanwhile I had managed to get to the right solicitor and they have been great; compare their professionalism where, with every bill I get an excel sheet detailing each action and the time it has taken on my behalf with Nicks unprofessional lets just guess approach I lost a lot of money and two weeks in time. Make sure you double check who you need to see before parting with money.

Thank you for your review. We have reviewed our file and can see that Nick Dent liaised with our family department in the first instance and thereafter provided you with a detailed letter of advice, to protect your position and advise you on your rights and options. We believe it was the correct for your case to begin with our Litigation department so that you could gain advice on your civil remedy options and then as your case evolved, it was appropriate at that time to transfer it to our Family department. We are sorry if you feel that our service fell short on this occasion but we believe that we have acted in your best interests to protect your position.
