The solicitor that dealt with the purchase was Charlotte Fairfax. We received an email on 1st June 2026 with the client care package to start the process once we had viewed the property and a price agreed via the estate agent. We completed on 31st July 2026, 9 weeks later. Admittedly the property was vacant and we had nothing to sell, so, no chain as such. But still, very impressed with Charlotte and the team at Merritts Solicitors to "get the job done".

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. The consultation provided no meaningful or tailored legal advice. I was simply told I couldn’t make an application until my daughter was born, to maintain a good relationship with my former partner, and to write my own letter for review - none of which justifies the £198 fee. Had I known this was all that would be offered, I would not have attended or paid. I dispute the invoice as the service was poor and not worth the cost. I would not use this firm again.

Samantha Weston is the best solicitor you can have in your corner. She can manage any situation thrown at her and hold your hand through any complications that developers, buyers and management companies can create. From someone who went through different complications, Samantha delivered excellence, answered enquiries with speed, managed to turn around a failed buyer to a part exchange within 5 days (enquires answered, exchanged and completed).
