House Sale and Purchase
We are previous clients and Smith & Co were our first call when we received an offer for the house we thought we had retired to four years earlier. It was leasehold on an 'age-restricted' development, complete with landlord's agent and a management company to deal with. Charges were reasonable for the first couple of years but cost-of-living rises hit hard and we would never go near one of these places again. Jade dug in and navigated the maze of seller's packs and account statements proactively and efficiently. To make matters worse, it later transpired that our buyer's house was not on mains water and their buyer made the purchase dependent on easement rights being granted across a neighbouring farm. Eight months of agony, but Jade was very reassuring and did put what pressure she could on an often unresponsive chain of solicitors below us. Some well-considered threats and withdrawal of retentions got us over the line late May. By comparison, the purchase of our freehold property in Ipswich was a breeze and this is definitely our last move. We will be back to Smith and Co to update our wills shortly. Recommended.
