This area covers how parents arrange where a child lives, spends time, and who makes decisions about their welfare after separation. A family solicitor helps with applications for child arrangements orders, consent orders, and mediation, including drafting, responding to proceedings, gathering evidence, negotiating with the other parent, and representing you in hearings in the family court. The work is guided by the Children Act 1989 and related family-law provisions, always focusing on the child's welfare and ensuring appropriate contact unless safety concerns arise.

“I was represented in a child Arrangement Case by Beth Sheridan who works for Stowe Family Law. From the initial contact with this law firm I received the best service and advice. Beth was fully engaged in the case and she worked hard to get all the facts communicated to the courts clearly. The fact that this case was dealt with in 2021 during the covid lock down period, made it impossible to meet in person and discuss the case. However, I did not feel left out at any point as Beth was always available to respond to emails or telephone messages. Dealing with Stowe Solicitors and especially Beth, helped to give my family confidence to continue with life during a very difficult time when my daughter had just been diagnosed with a serious medical condition. I cant thank Stowe solicitors enough and would like to commend them for a job well done. ”

“I was knee deep thick in an ongoing, difficult court battle custody of my children, one of which is currently battling a brain tumour & Hydrocephalus. I had lost complete faith in the firm i was working with who showed very little interest in my case & whom i had to chase continuously despite going through a traumatic & particularly stressful period in my life on top of court proceedings. Sonia is amazing ! From the second she took on my case, she was impecabile. She communicated constantly, i was never in the dark, was reliable, knowledgable, professionable, approachable, honest & reliable. Sonia represented me with very little notice, was up to scratch & put to bed a case that had been dragging on for far too long. I will forever be grateful, cant recommend her enough & will only ever trust her to deal with in future ”

“I worked with Ian regarding an Adoption case. I am an Advocate and I was the Litigation Friend for Dad. Ian was fantastic with the person I was supporting. Ian took time to explain to Dad, in great, simplistic language, what was happening, what Dad's rights where, and how I could help, and Ian could help too. Myself and Ian had a wonderful working relationship, ensuring the best possible outcome for Dad, working in joint partnership. Ian took great steps to explain in clear and honest communication what Dad's rights were, even in what was a very difficult case. Ian was knowledgeable, professional, responsive and always had a friendly smile to greet us. I would use Ian again and would recommend him to the colleagues in my organisation.”

“I cannot recommend Ruth highly enough. Ruth is quite simply outstanding and deserves the highest recognition for her work. Over the course of 4.5 years of on and off court proceedings, Ruth has been my absolute rock and has consistently gone above and beyond in every possible way. Ruth's knowledge and experience are truly exceptional. She is honestly a master of her field. But what genuinely set her apart was how she made me feel throughout this incredibly difficult process. As a woman supporting another woman through family court, she gave me strength when I didn't think I had any left. There were days I wasn't sure I could even walk into the courtroom, and Ruth's unwavering support and encouragement gave me the courage to carry on when I thought I couldn't. Her legal advice was nothing short of outstanding. Always clearly explained, strategic, and perfectly tailored to our unique situation. She demonstrated incredible skill in navigating complex legal matters and always anticipated potential challenges before they arose. Ruth was consistently available whenever I needed to reach out, responding promptly with professionalism, wisdom, and genuine care. Her dedication to our case was evident in every interaction. Beyond her brilliant legal mind, Ruth is also warm, friendly, and genuinely supportive. She treated me with dignity and compassion at every step, making an unbearable situation feel manageable. Her ability to balance professionalism with authentic human kindness is a rare and precious quality. We have finally achieved the best possible outcome for our son, and I am beyond grateful to Ruth for everything she has done. I honestly could not have done this without her expertise, support, and unwavering commitment to our case. Ruth is an absolute credit to your firm and to the legal profession. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone facing similar challenges. She is simply the best.”
