This work covers civil disputes brought in the courts, from initial claims to trial and resolution. A solicitor in general litigation handles disputes between businesses or individuals across a wide range of topics, including contracts, negligence, property, and debt recovery. They draft statements of case, manage disclosure and evidence, negotiate settlements, issue and progress proceedings, and represent clients at hearings in the County Court, the High Court, or appellate fora. Practical handling depends on the nature of the dispute and the court involved.

“I contacted 41 solicitors with no great response at all. Telling them my story. I received a call back from Alpa. Alpa took on my case with already a heavy workload which included regular attendance to courts. Alpa straight away emailed the parties to understanding current positions and ways forward. Alpa supports was simply amazing from get go. Thank you so much Alpa from the moment you called me back till date. I look forward to your ongoing support to achieve the best possible outcome. Your experience and understanding gave me so much reassurance on what possibilities I face. Thank you”

    Frequently asked questions

    How are these solicitors ranked?

Rankings are worked out mainly from client reviews: the ratings clients give and how recent the reviews are, with reviews about General counting most. We also take into account how much of a firm's work is in General.

Twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday, so new reviews are reflected quickly. This list was last updated on 29 October 2026.
