This work covers locating and obtaining a deceased person’s valid will, or proving there is no last will, in addition to obtaining a copy if needed. A solicitor collects, checks and, if required, applies to the Probate Registry to obtain the appropriate legal authority to deal with the estate. They may liaise with executors, families, banks and other institutions to confirm where the will is kept, arrange for sworn statements, and safeguard the will’s terms for execution.
A solicitor identifies the will’s whereabouts, confirms its validity, and, where required, applies for a grant of probate or letters of administration. They ensure the document is authenticated, coordinate with the executor and beneficiaries, and handle any issues around missing or contested wills, safeguarding the estate’s orderly administration.

Tagged solicitor Philip Collins
Philip Collins and Jessica Whooley have been exceptional throughout my time with them as a client. After a lengthy and intense Will dispute, Phil and Jess have both worked endlessly and proactively to get a 2 year long settlement over the line. Not only are their legal skills greatly appreciated but what sets them apart is the duty of care they show to their clients. Not only is a process like this financially draining (which they were very mindful of), but also emotionally draining. Jess and Phil were always available to clarify any concerns or listen to my frustrations and act upon them in a rational and professional manner. It really is refreshing to work with solicitors that truly have your best interest at heart and show as much levels of empathy as Jess and Phil have in such a tough industry. Would highly recommend!
