I used Penmans to draw up my Will, as they'd done for my parents, then I used them to draw up both types of Power of Attorney. Professional, efficient and took the time to explain everything. I would highly recommend them.

Impressed and grateful that Penmans Solicitors offer a free half an hour appointment for advice regarding deceased estates. This in turn led us to use Penmans for dealing with some of my late mothers estate and the writing of our wills. Laura is friendly, helpful and efficient.

I've been a good customer to Penman's, using them for my first house purchase in 2017 and coming straight back to them to complete a house sale and purchase this month. I've spent thousands. Even recommended my brother to this firm who used it for his house purchase a few years ago (in fact he's even left a 5* review). Charles Glover who just completed my purchase and sale was great, can't fault him really. Unfortunately my experience was just tainted completely as I was hit with a £150+VAT cancellation charge for some paperwork I changed my mind on which was originally costing £300+VAT on completion. A basic declaration of trust form. Besides an initial conversation and apparently a draft I really didn't think much had been done with it hence my disappointment. Furthermore, I was in discussions to draw out a will with Penman's. I expressed my dissatisfaction explaining my history as a customer with this firm, and the fact I was going to spend more money with them - unfortunately they opted to proceed with charging me £150+VAT cancellation rather than do what most would consider logical, which is take more business from a willing customer which in turn would earn the firm more. Terrible customer service in this moment to ruin the whole experience - and a shame as my brother is just starting the process to start his house sale...
Appalling. Nearly ten months later they are still failing to settle a will. They persistently ignore emails and phone calls. When I finally got a reply, they were chasing me off the phone without a care in the world, but admitted 'short staffing' was an issue. I will be moving to an Ombudsman complaint next week to attempt not only to get them to pay out the money they appear to be sitting on or not gathering in, but also to hand over information legally requested from them which they are ignoring/ghosting demands for. I note another review from a month ago advising they were ghosted by them also. When a private company starts ghosting calls and not paying out, it's a serious red flag. Unprofessional, unacceptable and beyond infuriating to deal with. Avoid.
Since losing my Aunt, they have been talking care of all the legal affairs. Doing an excellent job. If the one thing they could improve, is a courtesy call every so often. But apart from that highly recommend

With a lot of perseverence after the chain collapsed and was reformed. Our solicitor got it over the line despite the buyer’s solicitor going on holiday on the day we exchanged having not briefed anyone!
Donna's exceptional professionalism and legal expertise meant I was able to feel reassured and focus on what was most important to me whilst going through such a stressful process. She also showed a great deal of care and compassion throughout working with me.

From initial conversation with the receptionist, until the end of the business, I was treated with friendship and respect. The charges were very reasonable and I would not hesitate to recommend Penmans.

Everything was very efficient and professional. All in all a very good experience during a potentially stressful time.
I found them to be very helpful - particularly Liz and Christie. But the conveyancing team was badly let down when two others represented the buyer of the house we were selling. Matters not properly dealt with, silence when one went on holiday, then the other solicitor made things very difficult for both her client and us. Difficult and rude, she was also unprofessional - ignored requests for updates from her own client, caused a huge amount of stress for both the buyers and us, and I even caught her badmouthing me in an email to the estate agent and our solicitor. Very stressful and upsetting when it really didn’t need to be. I felt so sorry for our buyer - they kept apologising and we had to keep telling them not to worry as we knew it wasn’t their fault.

We have used Penmans Solicitors to sell our property on many occasions with a great deal of success. Unfortunately, on this occasion our experience was not great. There had been a number of staff changes which put extreme pressure on the solicitor employed by us and as a result there were many delays and a frustrating number of times we had to chase for action to be done.
