Excellent service from Millie Schofield

Being both retired with grandchildren, we finally decided that we were long overdue in updating our Wills. Milners Solicitors have a small branch office in Upton near Pontefract, and as we live in the village, it made sense for us to use a firm within walking distance from our house. We rang the Milners office who gave us a quote for producing our mirror Wills that was equal to or better than some of the other quotes we had received. We were asked to ring Millie Schofield direct to make an appointment, as she deals with the Wills and Probate requirements in the Upton office.
We met Millie the following week and she was really most helpful in dealing with our requirements and made recommendations about how to keep things simple to avoid any potential probate issues our Executors could have further down the line. She gave us some guidance relating to Inheritance Tax questions and answered all our other queries very plainly so that we fully understood what the best way was for the Wills to be set out. Once we were happy, she then produced draft copies which she forwarded to us to read as a final check before signing.
We had also decided to complete our Lasting Power of Attorney documentation as well, which Millie again put together for us. She explained to us how the documents work legally and the different types of LPA's available. She forwarded us copies of some of the document clauses and gave us some examples of some fine tuning to the documents that we may want to consider relating to restrictions for our Attorneys use etc. We made a few adjustments which she included in her final draft and talked them all through with us at another meeting.
Again, all our questions had been answered simply and very quickly, whether by Millie in the office or from her online by email. The whole process was very well managed and we were more than happy with the service we received. We will definitely recommend Millie and Milners to anyone who asks, and we will also use Milners ourselves again for any other legal requirements that we have in the future.

Professional & Friendly Service

As a family, we have used John Robson to handle various property transactions for us and I must say, there is a reason we would never use anyone else. Throughout the years we have worked with John he has always been professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable when overcoming any issues due to his invaluable experience. Thank you John - it is always a pleasure to deal with you.

Poor client-relationship management, off-loads bureaucracy to client

Repeated instructions to this company led to repeated paperwork by juniors as though I was a new client with each instruction. Inefficient and bureaucratic with poor continuity in their client-relationship management, likely because it reduces the bureaucratic burden on them at the cost of increasing effort by the client. A simple reorganisation of their instruction-procedures in favour of clients’ interests would make a difference. This is a common failing in lawyers who don’t understand the importance of client-relationships, as I experienced in over a decade's work in forensic medicine. The lawyer himself is pleasant and effective.

Excellent Service!!

John and his team provided excellent help and support during a difficult and stressful time in which we twice lost buyers at the bottom of our property chain and, as a consequence, we lost our first choice purchase.
