I am a solicitor specialising in residential property. I qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and have been a partner with Butcher & Barlow since 2010, when the firm merged with my previous firm, Howard Maitland. Having had many years of experience working in family law, I can also advise on Deeds of Trust and issues which arise from the joint ownership of property. I understand that moving house can be stressful as well as exciting, and speed is of the essence. Accordingly, I embrace the assistance that IT can provide and try to make sure that the conveyancing process works smoothly and efficiently for my clients. Having worked in the Prestwich and Bury areas for over 20 years I have built up close working relationships with estate agents, mortgage advisers and other solicitors. Being able to communicate openly and honestly in a conveyancing transaction helps with the smooth running of the transaction, and the managing of expectations throughout the chain.

    Simple, Seamless and Stress Free

    Just wanted to share my appreciation on being very much looked after by Philip Thompson in the Butcher & Barlow Bury office... who handled my house conveyance in a really great way. His work, and that of his co-workers, was superb throughout. Very straightforward, easy to understand and at a price which bettered most other solicitors in the area. Would not hesitate to recommend anyone to use Philip and Lisa. They are genuinely nice people, great at what they do, local and have your vested interests at the centre of what they do for you.     House Conveyancing

    Phillip Thompson acted on my behalf, and the process was trouble free - especially considering the negative effects of the Covid-19 on businesses. The house purchase was completed in good time, and i am now in my new property. Butcher & Barlow have acted on my behalf on most of my house moves over the years, and have always provided an excellent service. Would strongly recommend.

    Sadly i did not utilise Butcher & Barlow under particularly favorable circumstances. I've had two very difficult and ultimately unsuccessful conveyancing experiences while with them. I am happy to say however, that while things did not go as planned, Butcher and Barlow conducted themselves professionally, ethically and with patience. The difficult circumstances I found myself in did give them the opportunity to demonstrate that they're honest, patient, stick to their word, and have empathy when it is required. Philip Thompson in particular should be commended for the way he handled interactions with a disagreeable behaviour from a third party, and subsequently in handling my own frustrations in reaction to this. He helped me to understand what my options were and provided support and sympathy in a professional manner. I'll absolutely return to Butcher and Barlow to hopefully have a more successful sale and purchasing experience in the near future.

    We completed on our house purchase today and I couldn't fault the service by Philip Thompson at Butcher & Barlow. Phone calls were always answered in a timely mannerr and emails were always responded too. If I ever need a conveyancing solicior again I wouldn't hesitate to use Philip.
