Brilliant Bethany

A friend recommended Bethany Davison of Simpsons Solicitors, Thornbury to us and she certainly lived up to the praise we had heard. We were anxious to take advantage of the Free Will offer and it was so good.

A representative from Right Legal Group Limited responded to this review

Thank you for your lovely review Patricia. We’re so pleased to hear that Bethany lived up to your expectations and that you found the Free Will offer helpful. Your feedback means a lot and we’re glad we could assist you. Best wishes Simpson Solicitors

1ST Impressions

Very satisfied with the time and patience shown over emotional matters and the knowledge and non-pushy advice we were given, which we did act on. Explanations were very clear and concise. First impressions are that I would be very happy to use them again.

Will review

I had the pleasure of a visit from the lovely Jessica this morning from the Derby office. She was very friendly and chatty and completely put me at ease. She answered my questions and explained everything to me clearly so I could understand. This young lady is going to be a huge asset to your company and if I need legal advice in the future I shall be employing Jessica and recommending her to family and friends.

A representative from Right Legal Group Limited responded to this review

Thank you Margaret for sharing such a positive experience with Jessica from our Derby office. We are delighted to hear that she made your visit comfortable and informative. We look forward to assisting you again in the future, and we appreciate your willingness to recommend us to others. Best wishes, Right Legal Group

Personal Injury

Terrible Probate Service - complaint now with Ombudsman

Used Right legal to try to obtain probate for the estate of my parents who sadly both passed away in 2022. Chose Right Legal as my parents had used them (as Simpson Solicitors) for wills and they seemed a very customer focused organisation based on their website. Experience with them has really been unbelievably bad and as of April this matter has now been passed to the Legal Ombudsman. I have had the worst customer experience with any company I have ever dealt with. This includes: Documents sent by them to the wrong address. Wrong/out of date terms of business sent out. Impossible to get hold of - 15+ emails/calls ignored. Many promises to pass message on/call back never done. Meeting to discuss issues missed by rights legal staff with no call/explanation as to why. When trying to complaints internally none of the staff seemed to know the complaints procedure I should use. Eventually, having spoken to member of staff dealing with my probate (and foolishly given them a second chance) agreed deadlines were again missed (and lots more calls ignored). When finally getting the documents to sign found errors - incorrect spelling of surnames - This alone took almost a month to get the corrected form sent out! Managed, eventually, to raise an official complaint (again after multiple phone calls and being told different things). Initial response was simply to ignore some of the points and generally brush off this criticism with a rather generic corporate email. Finally got to speak to Head of Customer service who - to be fair - was very honest in admitting that the company had some severe issues with customer service and seemed very genuine and embarrassed and apologised for the service. She offered £150 compensation which I agreed to accept at the end of the process on the condition that there were no more issues and that they kept me proactively informed of progress (Money was going to be donated to Cancer research). Sadly - no proactivity in keeping me informed - wasn't until I chased, I found out they had received my Fathers probate a month earlier (but hadn't informed me), they also said they would chase my Mothers probate case that day but making a simple phone call to the courts ended up taking 2 weeks. Based on these last frustrations I've now sent the complaint to the legal ombudsman; I can’t believe the delay Rights Legal has caused, the only area of the business that seemed in anyway proactive was the accounts department chasing payment (which they got at the start of the process last year) . Probates never going to be a nice process given its nature , but a half decent professional service would have made this situation significantly easier.

If I could give no stars I would. This company took over from independent solicitors, I just needed to make one name change, so thought it would be easier and less stressful! This couldn't be further from truth. Communication is diabolical. A simple straight forward will seems to be too much for them. I have been speaking to different people because the person dealing with it was off sick or out of office or indisposed for various reasons. I should have read warning signs when my first on-line meeting no one showed. Eventually meeting was set and started process. Was told it's a really straightforward will and completion would be by Christmas. Unfortunately, I paid up front because they said they couldn't start drawing up until payment was made. What a numpty I have been. I'm still waiting. I will be contacting Law Society this week.

Charlie visited me on Tuesday last. She was very friendly and helpful, and obviously knew what she was talking about. I have confidence that the problems I had because my previous solicitors ceased trading, without my knowledge, will soon be resolved.

Thank you for your review, Celia. We’re so pleased to hear you felt reassured and well supported during your meeting. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Charlie, who will be delighted with your feedback. Best wishes Right Legal Group

Inefficient & slow

Support your local family solicitor! Not this massive, nationwide company. This firm took over all the documents held at a closing family firm. They mislead you to believe they have an office in Oxford. They then do the 'hard sell' to offer their services rather than just return your private documents. Because there was no money in it for them, they dragged their feet, did not read emails & repeatedly asked for previously submitted information. I'm sure if you spend thousands with them, they are eager to please.

DO NOT USE THESE SOLICTORS

Avoid at all costs. Poor communication throughout my father’s estate administration. Emails and calls went unanswered, forcing me to contact HMRC and Probate myself for updates. Constantly left in the dark. I’ve now re done my own will with a competent solicitor as the stress dealing with Right legal group has been unimaginable. A formal complaint has been raised. I would not recommend this firm.

Very poor service with multiple mistakes

There were a number of errors made with my Will including sending me an incorrect version as a final amended Will for my signature. The service I received was disorganised and unprofessional. I made a formal complaint which was investigated and upheld. I was offered a goodwill gesture and assured that staff training had been improved as a result of my feedback. This was approx 4 weeks ago and despite an email and call to follow up I have heard nothing and have not received the gesture of goodwill payment I was offered. I would avoid this company.

We have had an excellent experience from Michael Llewelyn at the Fareham office. We clicked with him on our first meeting at our home with his friendly and professional manner, as well as his expert knowledge. He really helped with clarifying different aspects of our wills and was very patient with our many questions. Also, their “portal” made communications very effective.

Totally unreliable service with simple tasks not carried out to produce LPA for my wife and m yself. A lot of expense , with no final documents produced. More keen to get their fees than carry out the required work. 3 abrupt personnel changes in 3 months suggest poor management and control of staff. Do not use them !

Avoid at all costs. This has been one of the most frustrating and stressful experiences I have ever had with a professional service. I instructed Right Legal Group to deal with my late father’s estate, expecting guidance, support and regular communication during an already difficult time. Unfortunately, the reality was the complete opposite. Emails frequently went unanswered, phone calls were not returned, and I was left constantly chasing for updates. The lack of communication was so poor that I often had to contact HMRC and the Probate Registry myself to find out what was happening with the case because I could not get the information I needed from the firm. The ongoing failure to respond caused unnecessary delays, prolonged the process and added significant stress at a time when I was already dealing with the loss of my father. My father specifically wanted me to use this firm so that I would have professional support and less to worry about. Instead, I found myself doing much of the chasing and administration myself while struggling to obtain even basic updates. I raised a formal complaint with the company regarding the service I received, but this did not change my overall experience. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this firm. If communication, responsiveness and client care are important to you, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
