Leonard Gray appeared to be the only local solicitors who specialize in the elderly with dementia. They explained mental capacity assessments and can arrange for a private doctor to carry out an assessment for a health power of attorney. They could also apply for a Deputyship from the Court of Protection if a client had failed to secure a power of attorney. Not cheap but at least it provides a way forward in difficult circumstances and Leonard Gray say they have been successful in obtaining Deputyships. Other solicitors did not seem to be interested in taking on this work as it was too much trouble. They said it was up to the client's GP. All the health officials said it was not their problem and passed the buck onto someone else but Leonard Gray explained how the system works in practice. Leonard Gray have subsequently secured a health power of attorney for myself.

Ian Cranefield’s knowledge of the law in the area of Elderly Abuse has stopped nothing short of saving my elderly mother. We found Ian through ‘Action Against Elderly Abuse’ after being previously advised that Mum’s case was ‘Insurmountable’. Ian’s expertise proved that it was anything but! He was excellent with Mum always addressing questions to her, checking she had an understanding and that she was happy with all he proposed. Ian secured a settlement for mum that we had began worry was never going to be attainable. She is now financially independent again and can put this stressful time behind her. We can not thank him enough. We will always remember and be grateful for everything he has done. David & Jane Knight

Paul Robinson Solicitors has been incredible over the years to my family, but when my husband passed away they really did step up. Sharad assisted me recently with a case relating to being a 3rd party interest to a POCA case, through no fault of my own. I was understandably quite overwhelmed and concerned. He put me at ease straight away during our initial telephone consultation. Following our consultation we scheduled a meeting to draft a statement to the courts and he guided me through next steps, including what to expect at the court case.
