Criminal Prosecution in England covers the state-led process of bringing and advancing criminal cases in courts, typically through the Crown Prosecution Service. A solicitor practising in this area handles the prosecution lifecycle on behalf of the public purse or CPS, including reviewing evidence, drafting charging decisions, preparing and presenting cases in court, managing disclosure and witness interviews, and liaising with police, the magistrates’ and Crown Courts, and other authorities. They also advise on legal strategy, sentencing options, and any appeals where appropriate.
