Absence from work covers how sickness, annual leave, or other authorised or unauthorised absences affect your job. A solicitor in this area helps you understand your rights when you are sick or unavailable, and how employers can manage attendance fairly under employment law. They handle issues such as fit-for-work assessments, sick pay, annual leave accrual, and disciplinary or dismissal steps connected to absence. The focus is on protecting your employment status while complying with the law.
The decision to dismiss or discipline for absence can have lasting effects on your employment and income. A solicitor explains the legal consequences of unpaid or unlawful absence, the deadlines for raising grievances or appeals, and how statutory sick pay, discretionary sick pay, and potential tribunal remedies interact with your current contract.
