After completion in property transactions, a solicitor finalises the transfer of ownership at the Land Registry, ensures the mortgage is correctly discharged, and handles any remaining stamp duty duties. They also deal with post-completion formalities such as updating the register of title, sending the title documents to the client, and addressing any subsequent charges or liabilities that arise from the purchase. The work turns a completed sale into a legally registered ownership, and confirms the client’s formal position as the new owner.
“Clear professional advice. Questions answered clearly and where required further clarification given. Timeline for completion explained. Very satisfied

“Maisie has helped us through the initial stages of selling our house, and I could not be happier with the service we received. All our emails and questions were replied to really quickly.”

“A friend recommended Samantha Robertson-Strong for our conveyancing. Not only was the cost a bit lower than alternative quote, but the service was exceptional. We were on a deadline for completion due to personal circumstances & we were able to complete on the date we requested. Samantha was professional, friendly & informative. I also really liked the online tool which gave email updates on where we were out with the sale of our property. The completion day went more smoothly than expected too. Samantha managed our expectations realistically & I rarely had to chase anything up. Even when I did, Samantha was already on the case. Thank you to Winston Solicitors for your services, your efficiency was much appreciated ”

“Natalie recently assisted me in the sale of my home, she went above and beyond from start to finish. Very professional and ensuring the sale was completed on time, gave me regular updates and was only a phone call away for any enquires. Amazing service. ”

“I work as an estate agent and normally refer to another conveyancer but chose to work with Helen on a personal sale of mine.
The property wasn’t digitally registered so the initial meeting with Helen was a great help making sure we selected the right buyer and were up front with any restrictions in the title in advance. Most firms wouldn’t even open a file until a buyer was found.
Helen performed above expected standards throughout the transaction, particularly on the customer service front but the thing that stood out was no matter how many barriers the other side put up Helen didn’t give up and kept pushing.
The total transaction took around 20 weeks which was frustrating but there is no doubt in my mind that it would have been closer to 25/30 weeks without Helen and team. In my mind she saved me a huge amount of money in insurances, council tax and other payments by her proactive approach and never say die attitude!
If you’re choosing a conveyancer I can’t emphasise how important it is to choose someone who isn’t scared to pick the phone up, be proactive and is tenacious. If you make the wrong choice it’ll be too late once you realise! I would say you can’t go wrong with Helen and team.”

“I’d preciously used James on a transfer of equity from my ex.
He’d done such an excellent job on that I decided to use him again on the purchase of my new home.
Now the seller wanted a fast exchange and I explained this to James and he and his team pulled all the stops out.
From start to finish James and his team were faultless in dealing with my constant phone calls and e-mails.
The whole process took them 3 weeks, I could not recommend this man enough, his professionalism and manner are second to no one, he is approachable, friendly.has a great sense of humour.
If you’re buying or selling a house I’d definitely recommend James and his team. ”

“Sam acted for our previous purchase 6 years ago, and more recently our sale and onward purchase of our new property. He is always happy to help whether over email or by phone, by coming back straight away to any queries or questions we have and is very transparent, open and honest with his opinion and advice. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending his services to anyone and whenever a family member or friend ask for a recommendation I always give them Sam’s details. ”

“We were recommended Evette by a friend, and she was fantastic throughout our entire home-buying process. She was incredibly thorough and communicated exceptionally well from start to finish.
Unfortunately, our move was delayed due to unforeseen issues with the Land Registry. While we ideally would have liked to move in a lot earlier, this was entirely out of Evette's control. What we appreciated most was how she kept us completely in the loop, clearly explaining the issues as they arose so we never felt left in the dark.
Despite the external delays, her service was excellent and we would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great conveyancer.”

“Bethany offered first class service from the start to end. She offered reassurance & advice countless times when we was unsure of processes and progress. Bethany also went above and beyond when a timescale was needed to be worked to & pushed the completion through. Would recommend her services to anyone ”
“Conor acted with dedication and determination to complete on my property within the timeframe I asked (despite the transaction being complex). He responded to all my emails within a timely fashion and answered any queries I had. He kept me fully informed throughout the whole process and did so in a friendly and approachable manor. We’re very happy with the service we received. Thanks Conor! ”

Post Completion
After completion in property transactions, a solicitor finalises the transfer of ownership at the Land Registry, ensures the mortgage is correctly discharged, and handles any remaining stamp duty duties. Where a solicitor protects your position
Post completion is time‑sensitive: the transfer must be registered so the client’s title is protected, and any Stamp Duty Land Tax payable must be settled. The solicitor coordinates with HM Land Registry, ensures any lender charges are noted, and handles the discharge of prior rights where necessary, creating a secure, final record of title.
