Poor communication

I had to find out the status of my sale process through my estate agent as communication from GWCA was limited and poor and not representing what was occurring.

Legal Representation for 2 Generations of my Family

GWCA has carried out work for me in three broad areas over the years. I have found them very helpful and reasonably priced, and their advice proved invaluable. Multiple house purchase and sales have been handled on our behalf by partner Tony Lewis, and his secret weapon, the amazingly efficient and effective licensed conveyancer, Jackie Burn. Elise Mason was also very helpful following my father's death, as was Elise Mason who handled the probate during the pandemic, when the State's probate apparatus went into slow motion.
Over the past half century or more my family and parents have been helped by GWCA, and so I would also particularly like to mention Tim Parsons, a partner in your Worthing office, and the constant help and assistance he provided us on various issues throughout much of this time prior to his retirement, for which we are immensely grateful.
GWCA, in summary, has demonstrably had the depth and breadth of expertise necessary over the years to meet all our legal needs. I have complete confidence in their work and advice.

Took ages

I think I suffered due to other cases being more important due to stamp duty rise. Everything took ages considering there was no chain.
All options below to choose from are only positive.

Flat perches

I have used GWCA before but found them unbelievably poor this time. I left them two messages on their answering machine near time did get a call back. I went into the office and was told the solicitor was away but would call the follow week when back in the office I never received a call. I went back into the office was given lots of excuses as why the solicitor hadn’t called but they would call the following day. Amazingly I never received a call from them. So I went elsewhere and received the service you would expect from a solicitor. I will never be using GWCA after such appalling service

Errors and chasing

I had to chase and chase and chase at every step… for a simple trust deed amendment it took months on end. Both times I was sent paper work there was mistakes (wrong address in places) which I had to point out. This delayed things even further.

It felt like no care was taken, no checks were made, and had put me off using you again for future work unfortunately.

I used GWCA Solicitors for conveyancing when I purchased my leasehold flat. The property included an extension which was clearly disclosed by the seller and required freeholder consent, but GWCA failed to secure this or warn me properly about the risk — even though their own correspondence showed they knew about the issue.

Years later, this oversight has cost me thousands in surveyor’s fees, a retrospective licence, and I was forced to accept a lower sale price due to missing paperwork that should have been dealt with at the time of purchase. When I complained, they destroyed their file, refused to take responsibility, and told me it was my job as the client to check the lease plan myself!

I’ve had to escalate my complaint to the Legal Ombudsman and prepare a legal claim to recover my losses. I do not feel GWCA acted with care or professional diligence, and would not recommend them for leasehold conveyancing.

It was our first time having to deal with a legal matter of this type. Both Merna, Gemma, and their staff have been nothing short of amazing during this time. As it was a lengthy process with some hiccups on our end causing delays, they displayed nothing but kindness and patience, which has been wholeheartedly appreciated.

I would recommend this firm of solicitors to anyone who needs their services, as they carry themselves with both knowledge and heart.

Again, thank you to everyone involved in this.

Much love,
Nickolas & Kimberley

Abigail has been genuinely amazing sorting out out issue with our developer. When yet another arose, she was our first call again & have absolute confidence that she will be able to help us again.
She is genuinely a credit to your team.
We also used GWCA to purchase our property and they were fantastic and speedy getting everything we needed.
A really well informed service from start to finish.
We also used GWCA for a probate matter.
Genuinely would 100% recommend them for all aspects of legal representation.
