Grade appeals cover challenging an academic or professional assessment outcome issued by a university, awarding body or professional regulator. A solicitor in this area helps clients navigate the appeals process, prepares the required grounds, collects and presents evidence, and negotiates or represents them at the appeal hearing or review. They also assess deadlines, foresee potential adverse consequences, and advise on alternative routes such as resits or later reconsideration requests. Procedural rules, time limits and the choice of forum shape how matters proceed.
The solicitor handles the specific grounds for appeal, the relevant assessment criteria, the submission of fee requests and any required statutory or regulatory references, and the interaction with exam boards, universities or professional bodies to secure a fair reconsideration of the grade.
