I've known Paul Kay for many year's he handled my divorce from my husband back in 1998. Hadn't seen Paul Kay since but back in March 2024 he was a duty solicitor and was allocated to my DD charge whilst I was in custody. It was good seeing him again however I do not think he is a criminal solicitor and I felt as though as was thrown to the wolves on my court hearing. Apparently he was detained at a Crown Court hearing on my trial date and sent his wife Debbie and she knew nothing of my case although she advised she had an insight into my case. Upon meeting her 10 minutes before my hearing and I advised her I did not want to plead guilty as I knew there was room for more evidence she advised me that they could no longer represent me and I would need to find further solicitors, I did not for one minute think she meant tjrte and then untill I was shouted to enter the court room where I was advised I was on my own. (A fish out of water) I had to stand in front of the magistrates on my own with the prosecution and ask for adjournment, which was granted whilst I found alternative representation. I felt really let down on my own and it would not be a solicitors I would turn too if I needed representation again. Through all of what I've noted Paul Kay Is a gentleman, however I did not feel he did enough for me on my court hearing I hardly spoke to him through the months of waiting for trial and when I had a meeting weeks before my trial date I was seen by his son and at court his wife. Not a good approach if I am to be honest
