I have serious concerns regarding the handling of my Employment Tribunal claim by Matthew Moss and Optimal Solicitors. In November 2019, a letter sent on my behalf identified claims including race discrimination and gender-based misconduct. However, the case later proceeded on a much narrower basis. My concerns include the narrowing of the claim, the omission of an individual respondent despite an ACAS Early Conciliation Certificate, and limited transparency regarding pleadings and documents filed in my name. Most critically, shortly before the final hearing, I received an email stating that the withdrawal of my claim had already been agreed with the respondent’s representatives. The claim was subsequently withdrawn and concluded without compensation. I remain concerned that I was not provided with sufficient information to make fully informed decisions regarding the conduct of the litigation and the consequences of key strategic decisions. I have submitted a formal complaint to the Legal Ombudsman and previously raised concerns with the Solicitors Regulation Authority. I have also prepared a detailed chronology and supporting documentary evidence. I believe prospective clients should carefully review all pleadings, witness statements and settlement discussions, obtain copies of documents filed in their name, and ensure that significant advice is confirmed in writing. This review reflects my personal experience and opinion as a former client.

Honestly, I can’t fault Optimal Solicitors. I reached out when my business was still fairly new and I was at that stage where you’re juggling a hundred things at once, trying to grow, trying to do everything properly, and at the same time worrying that one clause in a contract or one wrong decision early on could come back to bite you later. I didn’t want generic advice, I wanted someone to actually look at what I was doing and tell me, in plain English, what I should be doing to protect myself. That’s exactly what I got. They went through my documents properly. They pointed out things I would never have spotted on my own and explained why they mattered, without making me feel silly for asking. They also helped me tighten up wording in a way that was still fair, but much clearer, so there’s less room for misunderstanding down the line. What I appreciated most is that they weren’t trying to overcomplicate it. They gave me practical guidance on the business structure too: what made sense for where I am now, what would make sense as I grow, and what I should have in place from the start. I felt like they were thinking a few steps ahead for me, which is such a relief when you’re trying to build something and you don’t want legal things hanging over your head. And on a very human level, they were just easy to deal with. Quick replies, clear explanations, no drama, no pushing things back and forth endlessly. I always felt like someone had it under control. I’m really glad I found them and I’ll definitely keep using them as the business grows.

The most stressful and disappointing… The most stressful and disappointing legal experience I have ever had. I regret ever instructing Optimal Solicitors. What should have been a straightforward personal injury claim turned into months of delays, poor communication, unanswered emails, and a complete lack of progress. In fact, in eight months they achieved absolutely nothing. Not a single step forward. Nothing. Zilch. I was left to chase them constantly, and still nothing moved. Important evidence wasn’t followed up properly, information went missing, and I was left without clear answers or direction. I expected professionalism — what I received instead was confusion, silence and avoidable delay after delay. My case handler, Shah Uddin, eventually stopped responding altogether, even after multiple formal requests. This left my claim completely stuck and caused significant stress, frustration and disruption to my life. Because of the way my case has been handled, I am now preparing legal action against Optimal Solicitors to recover the losses and damage caused by their delay and non-responsiveness. No client should ever find themselves in this position. This entire experience has been deeply upsetting, unnecessarily stressful and professionally unacceptable. I would strongly advise anyone considering this firm to think very carefully. My experience has been nothing short of exhausting, costly and damaging. Do not touch these.
