Would give 0 stars if I could

Had a very poor experience using Charlie Davidson for the purchase of a property. His negligence in handling the matter directly caused the deal to collapse as the seller withdrew due to the excessive time taken, resulting in the loss of the property and ensuing financial damage, as well as a loss of months of my time and stress to myself.
The entire process took seven months before it collapsed, which was totally unreasonable. Throughout the whole process, the communication from Charlie was extremely poor, and at a critical point in the purchase he totally ignored all communication attempts for a month, causing additional stress.
Charlie also seemed to struggle with managing tasks in his inbox and dealing with the other party. Having reviewed the communication between both solicitors, Charlie made several errors in requests for information, did not chase issues adequately and did not pass all relevant documentation on to myself.
It would appear that Charlie was severely out of his depth with this transaction and was not being managed properly. From dealing with his manager after complaining, there appears to be a culture of mediocrity across the whole conveyancing team. Once I took matters into my own hands, I was able to get information from the seller within one week that Charlie and his manager had claimed they were unable to get despite them trying for over three months. Indeed, the seller also advised me to make a complaint to Bishop & Sewell due to the delays their poor handling of the matter were causing.
Bishop & Sewell charge higher fees than many other firms, however they do not provide any value for this. Their work was some of the poorest quality professional services I have ever received. I would strongly advise that if you want your property deal to complete and be dealt with in a professional manner, you look to another more competent firm.

Executry of the will of the Rt Rev Alec Graham

My experience of Bishop and Sewell is limited to the executry of the will of the Rt Rev Alec Graham for which Nicholas Barlow is the principal executor. He has given first rate advice throughout, as has his deputy Ben Williamson. Karen Bright has handled the court proceedings which were needed in the case of a tenant who was unwilling to vacate a property which had to be sold for probate. She has done so promptly and efficiently. I am not competent to assess other aspsects of Bishop and Sewells' work for clients.

Mixed experience

I used this firm for a house purchase based on a recommendation from the estate agent.

Nicole was efficient and competent. However, this firm was very expensive compared to the others I considered using, and for the price I would have expected better communication. Although I generally received prompt responses, her emails were not as clear as they could have been.

I appreciate that conveyancing solicitors have big workloads and that Nicole works quickly, however - particularly given the high fee - I expected more.

Fantastic work

I had a great experience working with Stephen. He provided helpful and honest advice from the start, and was quick to identify key points that would work in my favour. His recommendations on what to include in the contract were spot on. Throughout the fast and efficient process, Stephen represented me exceptionally well and ensured I was fully covered with the right information at every step. I truly felt supported and well-informed the entire way through.

Outstanding Support and Expertise – Highly Recommend

Mariya was fantastic to work with throughout our first home purchase. As first-time buyers, we had a lot to learn, and she made the whole process so much easier by keeping us well-informed at every stage. Her attention to detail, especially in the final stretch, gave us real confidence that everything was being handled properly.

What really stood out was how responsive and proactive she was—whenever something needed sorting, she was on it straight away. Even when things got a bit complicated toward the end, she kept everything moving smoothly and made sure we understood exactly what was happening.

We’re really grateful for all her hard work and couldn’t have asked for better support. Would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a great property solicitor. Thanks again, Mariya!

Charlie Davidson Saves the Day

SRA intervention of previous firm instructed and Land Registry raised requisition on registration documents submitted. Charlie was a tremendous help in sorting this out and getting my property registered after months of uncertainty when other law firm just sat on the matter. Fantastic lawyer and great to work with. A real star and credit to the legal profession.

Excellent and Friendly service

Nicole has helped us sell our family home and buy one smaller. In both transactions the service was efficient and friendly. Nicole held our hands through the inevitable ups and downs of selling and buying property and I cannot recommend her highly enough.
She kept us up to date and was approachable and responsive, offering excellent insight, reassurance and advice when needed. Thank you Nicole!
