A subsequent partnership with Mark Fairweather from Leiston gave rise to the firm of Fairweather Stephenson & Co which the current Managing Director, Patrick Cooney, joined in 1995. The practice has operated from its premises in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe for many years and continues to increase its client base under the new name of Fairstep Solicitors. Fairstep Solicitors completed my mortgage successfully, and I'm happy with the overall service. The main issue was communication—I often had to chase for updates, and it was difficult to reach someone by phone as most communication was through the app. Overall, a good service, but it could be much better with more proactive updates.

They were so good and kept you informed of all the process that was happening. I want to also thank you Gemma who she was looking after my account and she was very helpful and very professional at her work. They are very reasonable and I’ll always recommend and I’ll always use them again as they are very professional very polite clear communication and when everything was going through my final payment, they rang me just to make sure that if I have received the balance of the money that they needed to transfer. Hope I never have to deal with this company ever again. Started a remortgage in May 2025 and due to the sheer ineptitude of the Fairstep employee dealing with the majority of my case, it didn't get completed until mid-September. I had numerous important questions that went unanswered, requested call-backs that never happened, and absolute gobbledegook replies to some answers I did get regarding documents they'd sent. The case worker, Shaun, who did take over my case for the last 2 weeks was superb, however, and got everything completed and signed off, but all that happened before that left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Used for conveyancing having been recommended by estate agent. Very quick to act at the beginning of the process, good email communication. Once near to exchange & completion very efficient in sending electronic documents to be signed and good communication on exchange & completion day. Only one negative in that I emailed a question which didn’t relate directly to the sale of the property which I did have to chase a couple of times.
