The practice was originally formed in 1988 and was known as Michael Stephenson & Co. A subsequent partnership with Mark Fairweather from Leiston gave rise to the firm of Fairweather Stephenson & Co which the current Managing Director, Patrick Cooney, joined in 1995. The practice has operated from its premises in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe for many years and continues to increase its client base under the new name of Fairstep Solicitors. We undertake many different areas of legal work, which can be found on our services page, together with particulars of our hardworking team. Having been disappointed by another firm regarding updating our wills, my wife and I contacted Fairstep. What a difference! Oleksandra was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and amazingly quick when we explained we had a holiday booked and would really like things done before we went. Yes, all done perfectly, with plenty of time to spare. All the staff we met were lovely. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This was a transaction that turned out to be very complex thereby taking many more months than anticipated. I nearly threw in the towel on several occasions but Gemma and Leia encouraged me to stick with it and through their tenacity, calmness and professionalism we managed to achieve completion this week. Fairstep Solicitors are awesome; I would recommend them to anybody!
A friendly no-nonsense firm in the middle of Felixstowe.

Fairstep Solicitors completed my mortgage successfully, and I'm happy with the overall service. The main issue was communication—I often had to chase for updates, and it was difficult to reach someone by phone as most communication was through the app. Overall, a good service, but it could be much better with more proactive updates.

I had a very positive experience working with Sarah during the sale of my flat. She was professional, approachable, and kept me well informed throughout the process. I found them to be very helpful. We needed our remortgage done quickly and they were quick and efficient.
Absolute circus from beginning to end for my conveyancing. Initially they got all my paperwork wrong by spelling my name wrong which created delays. I had to continually phone them to chase them up and they never got back to me. At one point they hadn’t done anything for two weeks as they said they were asking for a payment that they never sent an invoice for. Then there was the absolute joke of submitting money sources. There were delays, repeated requests for things I had already submitted. They would never be available if I called them. Gemma never gave me any advice help or guidance throughout the whole process. Then the kicker was a WEEK before I was supposed to complete she emails me on the Friday and says some of my funds weren’t eligible as they were gifted. Despite the fact they had known this for the last six weeks. All she said in the email was ‘how do you want to proceed?’ At end of business on the Friday. No advice what could be done or how to get round the problem. This continued into the next week where she finally answered my countless emails stressed to the hilt and asked for all my bank statements again with no exchange date 4 workings days to completion. So basically in a nutshell they lost me my house purchase due to their incompetence and lack of professionalism. Absolutely gutted and enraged. A formal complaint will go in to the ombudsman after I sort the mess out and find another home.
