Conspiracy to murder covers planning with others to kill. It falls under criminal law as a substantive offence charged as a joint venture to commit murder, without the crime actually having occurred. A solicitor in this area scrubbs through instruction, evidence and procedural steps to prepare the Crown Prosecution Service case for trial, or to defend a client facing such charges. These matters are shaped by police investigations, secure communications, and the risk of severe penalties.
What a solicitor handles in these matters
The matters involve complex legal questions about agreement, planning, and the degree of involvement of each conspirator, as well as admissibility of covertly gathered material, electronic evidence, and joint enterprise liability. The solicitor handles disclosure applications, review of prosecution evidence, coordination with police and CPS, and the drafting of pleadings and motions. Serious consequences can flow from even peripheral participation, making careful analysis essential.
