Disproportionate Penalty covers cases where the sentence for a driving offence appears unfairly harsh or inappropriate given the conduct and statutory framework. A solicitor in England assesses whether the penalty aligns with sentencing guidelines, the offender’s circumstances, and any mitigating or aggravating factors. They advise on options such as applying for a review, appeal, or sentence reduction, and they represent the client in negotiations or hearings with the magistrates’ court or the Crown Court to contest or refine the outcome.
The penalty may include fines, disqualification, and potential impact on employment or mobility. A solicitor explains the stakes—how an irreversible disqualification or lengthy fine could affect daily life and future opportunities—and identifies lawful routes to challenge or adjust the penalty, including grounds for appeal or review, and any time limits that must be respected.

Tagged solicitor Paris Phillips-Morris
I used Paris as my solicitor for a Drink-driving offence I had committed. I found her and the rest of the team at Ashtons Legal LLP very professional and also supportive in assisting me with it. I would have no hesitation recommending her services.
