Changes to working conditions cover any employer-initiated alteration to pay, hours, duties or reporting lines. A solicitor in this area helps clients assess whether a proposed change is lawful, consults and negotiates, drafts or negotiates a written variation or new contract, and advises on risks such as breach of contract, constructive dismissal, or redundancies. They gather evidence, review letters and scales of change, coordinate with human resources, and may represent the client in internal proceedings, at an Employment Tribunal, or in related disputes if required.
The change can affect pay, hours, role, or job security, with limits on when a variation is valid and the risk of dismissal or a claim if the change is unlawful. A solicitor provides advice on rights, procedures, and remedies, ensuring deadlines are met and options are understood.

Tagged solicitor Elizabeth Barrett
I was recommended Elizabeth Barrett by a friend who she had helped in a difficult employment situation. Liz was very approachable, friendly and explained everything in laymans terms, making sure I was 100% comfortable with the documents I was signing. I was very happy with the outcome and would not hesitate to appoint Liz again if I ever need her help in the future.

Tagged solicitors Julie Granger and Leigh Anne Prebble-Benn
Dear Julie, I was made redundant in July and was advised by my company to speak with a solicitor about my redundancy settlement. Not only was I upset and worried about the situation, but also very scared and nervous about contacting a solicitor as this was all new to me. I contacted Kingsfords and spoke firstly to Jacqueline Chappell, who was very helpful and gave clear instructions on what I needed to send to her. Jacqueline immediately made me feel much better and told me that it would be Leigh Prebble-Benn who I would have my telephone appointment with. When I first read through my settlement agreement I didn't really understand what it all meant and so when Leigh took the time to read through it line by line to explain things in simpler terms, it wasn't so overwhelming. Leigh also gave clear instructions on what I needed to do next and everything was all done quickly. It was also very lovely to know that I could contact Leigh if I had any other concerns. Their professionalism and kindness is outstanding and I wanted to thank them both as I am truly grateful. Best wishes and kind regards
