Continuity of employment covers how long a person has been continuously employed, counting periods of service for rights such as notice, redundancy pay, and protection against unfair dismissal. A solicitor in this area reviews your contract, payroll records, and any transfers to determine whether breaks in service affect your rights, and may advise on preserving or reconciling continuity when employers consolidate or transfer staff.
Your length of service can affect eligibility for protections and payments when employment ends. A solicitor explains which gaps count, how transfers (including TUPE) and suspensions interact with continuity, and what deadlines or steps are needed to secure or enforce your rights if a claim arises.
