Richard is the Managing Partner of the Kent Branch. He qualified in 1990. He specialises in serious and complex cases, including murder, robbery and financial crime. Richard also undertakes regulatory work and has acted for a number of companies and individuals who have faced investigation and prosecution by various regulatory bodies including the HSE and Environment Agency. Richard is a Higher Court Advocate who has appeared in number of high profile cases including murders, serious sex offences, fraud and high value drug cases in the Crown Courts. He has successfully appeared at the Court of Appeal and has appeared before Courts Martial. He was appointed to the list of approved counsel at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Richard is a member of the British Academy of Forensic Sciences, the Criminal Law Solicitors Association and the Solicitors Association of Higher Courts Advocates and the Kent Law Society. He is actively involved in supporting the profession and seeking to influence developments within the area of criminal law through his chairmanship of The Law Society’s Criminal Law Committee. Richard is also a member of the Law Society’s governing Council. He has been recognised for his work in seeking to improve the provision of criminal legal aid and in 2020 Richard received a Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award in recognition of his work in developing safer conditions for police interviews during the Covid-19 pandemic.

    A light in the dark...

    For many, arrest and police detention are an unknown entity... it was confusing, scary and it made no sense; especially when a false allegation had been made. Tuckers were amazing from start to finish and saw the process through to the NFA decision at the pre-charge stage. I would highly recommend.

    Best support and help

    Having just gone through 4 year process, feeling ashamed, scared, lost and in a dark lonely place, I couldn’t have survived through to the other side without their help, advice and most crucially the support. They were with me every step of the way. Explained what everything ment clearly and could tell when I was lost, upset and didn’t understand to what was happening so they would be patient and helped me to have it sink in and understand. There is nothing I can write on here that will express their excellence and how grateful I am to have them with me every step of the way. I pray I never need them again but if I did I would only ever want Richard and his team. They are all wonderful, professional, kind, caring, truthful and empathetic. No matter what you’re facing they will go above and beyond to do the best they can for you. Having admitted guilt from start, they ensured I was sentenced fairly and justly so now I can rebuild my life as without them I felt it could be so much worse.
