I had used Franklins since 2020, after a sudden death in the family meant I wanted to protect my new estate. The member of the family that died used Franklins so I thought if it was good enough for them, it'd be plenty for me. Although I only had two wills written up and used Franklins for a potential property purchase that eventually fell through, I always felt at ease with them and recommended them to anyone when relevant. When it came to voiding the wills I had made and asking for them back, I was very disappointed to be told there was a fee to retrieve them from storage when in fact, I was told my payments covered everything when I had them drafted. When I raised this, they suddenly waived the fee. I then had to persistently ask why they tried to charge me, they wouldn't acknowledge my question until I refused to answer theirs. I eventually got my wills back, but the experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I'll be using another solicitor when I draft a new will.

We went to Franklins for advice with estate planning and our wills. We found them to be extremely helpful , listening carefully to understand what we were trying to achieve and then setting out the options clearly. Communication was clear, concise and prompt, they were also clear with their fee structure from the outset, thanks Eddie and team.

Excellent service for both my conveyancing matter and previous connected probate matter. As the house sale progressed, I dealt with Sobhia, who I found to be both professional and friendly. Was good to have the same person to deal with. Sobhia responded quickly to questions from me and the estate agent and helpful explaining the forms in phone calls.

The biggest mistake
Weeks of no communication and risking the whole sale. The most stressful part of buying a house, by far, was dealing with Franklins.

This is the 3rd time I have used Franklins and I feel I can trust them to get the job done without delays. Communication has always been good and although not the cheapest, you get good service for your money.

Be very careful of using Franklins for property purchases
Thought Franklins had done an amazing on my property purchase in August 2022. Unfortunately in April 2024 I discovered that the management fee accounts dating back as far as 2017 had not been finalised and all of the adjustments were now my financial responsibility. As my acting solicitor on my purchase it was Franklins responsibility to have found this out and advise me of it pre purchase. As it stands at the moment I am £1300 out of pocket with another 2 years 8 months of adjustments that date prior to my purchase that I will be liable for when the accounts are completed. I have been in contact with Franklins since April and gone through their 8 week complaint process and all I have had back is "they are conacting the sellers solicitor". Appalling!

House move - extremely slow service. Frustrating is an under statement
We contacted the conveyancing department yesterday regarding issues with my daughter's house move. We live in Australia. Managed to speak to the person responsible for dealing with the move, insisted she send us the information necessary for us to assist with speeding up the matter. This person assured us that she will send documents through via email within a day. It is day 2 and we have not received anything from her. When we spoke to her on the phone from Australia, we were insistence that she acts quickly as this may impact on my daughter's house purchase. Potentially she could lose the purchase after having already waiting for 8 months for Franklins to conduct the purchase. We are totally disappointed and and dissatisfied with the conveyancing team and their attitude with the handling of properties purchase. We are surprised with the number of negative reviews they are still in business. The next stage would be for us to contact the legal ombudsman regarding their practice.
