Flawless Experience 5*

Laura has been amazing to work with on several matters. Sadly my Mum was diagnosed with incurable cancer and died after a very short illness. Time pressures were high as Mum’s house, our family home for 55yrs, was not registered with Land Registry. Laura’s team expedited this with HMLR and this meant Mum’s Will could be completed in time. Laura also dealt with the conveyancing on the probate sale - and handled a rather tricky buyer’s (cheap online) conveyancer professionally and patiently. Laura was instrumental in driving our agent to reach exchange and completion - when at times we considered pulling out of the sale and delisting. Overall her empathy, care, candid communication and ability to raise a smile, made all the difference. During tough times kindness is invaluable - and Laura is truly kind. I would never consider working with anyone else on a sale or a purchase. I have also recommended Laura to three other buyers - all have been equally impressed with her service and advice. Brilliant. Thank you Laura 🙏

Will preparation

Emma McCarthy and Lauren Smith were excellent in preparing my will. Emma displayed a lot of empathy by visiting me at home both when taking instructions and when I signed my will as i am housebound due to my disability.

We used Alison for the sale of a property after probate was granted. Having bought and sold properties over the years and know what hard work it can be to get through the process, Alison dealt with the sale with great efficiency and completion was done is double quick time! If you are buying or selling we would highly recommend dealing with Alison for your conveyancing.

As one of the executors for an estate, I found Alison's help in selling the house of the deceased to be invaluable. She was knowledgeable and gave helpful advice. A pleasure to deal with, highly recommended.

Sale of an Elderly Relations Property

Emily acted on the sale of my elderly Aunt's house in Cheltenham where I was acting under a Lasting Power Of Attorney. I do not live in the area and so Emily was dealing with the case remotely from me, but this did not cause any issue as he kept my up to date with the transaction with documents/requirements emailed to me on a timely basis so that I could respond accordingly. Emil's approach allowed the transaction to complete without any issues/delays being seen. Emily thank you for your work.

Remarkable unhelpful and rude when just asking for logics information. Let alone the Will they created that ripped our family apart. Vile group of people.

I would give zero stars if I could. Do not touch for probate. Worse than useless. Zero communication. Never return voicemails or emails. Awful.

A client

We instructed Wright Hassall over two and a half years ago to handle the first registration and transfer of property following my husband’s death. The property is still not registered — let alone transferred. For months, I was told they were “waiting for the Land Registry”. Eventually, they stopped responding altogether. I lodged a formal complaint at the end of June 2025, but to this day, I have received no meaningful update — only vague assurances that the matter is “being looked into.” After speaking directly with HM Land Registry today, I discovered they have been waiting since February 2025 for additional information they requested from Wright Hassall, and the firm is yet to provide it. This level of incompetence and poor communication has caused me immense stress on top of the grief of widowhood. I am unable to sell the property because of their inaction, and their handling of this matter has been nothing short of unacceptable. If you value efficiency, transparency, and professionalism, I would strongly advise caution before instructing this firm.

Smooth handling of leasehold flat sale

We chose HCR, and specially Alison, to handle the sale of our flat after an incredibly positive experience with them during our house purchase. As with the purchase, we were kept informed throughout the process, and Alison handled all the paperwork with high attention to detail. Where there were enquiries made by the buyer, Alison helped us understand what the solicitor was needing from us, and kept us informed every step of the way about the legal implications of any replies. This sale included dealing with a company handling Ground Rent and another handling the Service Charge - and Alison made everything complete smoothly including settling out charges from these companies. She also facilitated a very fast (24 hour!) turnaround from exchange to completion once everything was in place. We were once again impressed with Alison and HCR and would look to appoint them in future legal matters.

My experience with HCR Law was mixed. There were some positive aspects and the transaction ultimately completed, but communication and follow-through were significant sources of frustration. Reviewing my correspondence, I identified at least five emails for which I could find no substantive written response, covering at least eight separate questions or actionable requests that were not clearly answered or completed in writing. On one particularly time-sensitive occasion, I had emailed the previous day and telephoned twice without a response, despite needing to exchange that week. I was also repeatedly asked to clarify or resupply financial information that HCR already held. On several occasions I explained that the relevant account statements and source-of-funds information had already been provided, but I was nevertheless required to go through the information again. Account administration after completion was particularly frustrating. HCR chased for money paid in June, the month after, when I provided the payment date and supporting statement again in July, and by September had to ask HCR to stop contacting me regarding monies already paid. We will see if they respect this now. I was also disappointed by the handling of specific instructions that mattered financially. These included my request to establish whether I could buy the blinds at the property and my instruction to seek a £10,000 reduction in the purchase price, following information found in the surveys. I believed this had been taken through to the sellers but it had not, which I only realised too late in the day ti challenge. From my perspective, these matters were not followed through adequately and this left me financially worse off. There were occasions when useful advice was provided, particularly around legal enquiries and the risks of proceeding without sufficient information. However, I felt that I had to monitor, chase and manage too much of the process myself. Better record-keeping, clearer responses and stronger ownership of client instructions would have made a considerable difference, as well as handover when holidays we taken. The process was a lot more painful than it needed to be, especially at the end. Verbatum: At least five emails to HCR for which I could find no substantive written response: 19 March 2026: I asked whether an end-of-April completion date was possible. 23 March 2026: I asked for an update on searches and timelines. 20 May 2026: I asked whether the relevant action could be completed that week or by the following Tuesday. Multiple requests for monies already paid: 10 June 2026: I replied to an account statement saying, “I believe these have been paid?” They did not respond, they then requested the money again. 13 July 2026: I explained that the charges had been paid on 26 May and attached the statement. They did not respond. Further account correspondence followed in September. 10 September 2026 I replied “Please stop emailing me regarding monies already paid”. They have again failed to respond.

I had a fantastic experience with HCR Law my immigration process. The team was professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely supportive from start to finish. They made what could have been a stressful and complicated process feel much more straightforward and manageable. Thanks Dionne! I really appreciated their attention to detail, clear communication, and willingness to answer all my questions. The support I received gave me confidence and peace of mind during the entire process. I would highly recommend HCR Law to anyone looking for reliable, professional, and friendly assistance with their immigration needs. Excellent service from start to finish!

Used Sarah Loveridge for the sale and purchase of property. She was a consummate professional throughout, despite having to deal with some less that competent solicitors in the chain. Can't recommend her highly enough. She also dealt with the sale of my brother's property and he had a similar experience
