Description

Established in 2015, Satchell Moran Solicitors was founded by sister and brother, Paula Satchell and Terry Moran. Having gained over 40 years of combined experience in dealing, in the main with personal injury litigation, the duo decided to start a firm that meets with, not only the ever-changing business climate, but more importantly the ever-changing requests for legal assistance from their clients, both existing and new. In the initial stages, it was decided to integrate their business, with the changing legal climate, in tandem with the customers’ needs at the forefront. It was decided to employ legal experts in other areas of law and litigation, thus broadening our ability to assist our customers. This they believe has been achieved by recruiting a highly experienced, motivated team, who perform assiduously, with an acute understanding of managing our customer’s requirements in a diligent way. We have found that the ethos of the firm has been integral in providing our clients with positively extraordinary outcomes in concluding their legal business, which results, in not only a satisfied customer but customer retention. Our mission is to continue to provide high-quality legal advice and representation to our clients throughout the country, by maintaining a standard which is not only respected by its peers but more importantly by its ever-faithful clients.

Outstanding service

Paula and team was absolutely perfect to help me with all of my needs. She was timely with her responses, went out of her way to follow up with different queries and was professional throughout. I couldn’t recommend satchellmoran solicitors and would definitely use them again if I ever needed their services.

I have been a client of Satchell Moran Solicitors for approximately almost four months following an incident involving the police in early May. Unfortunately, my experience has left me disappointed, particularly in relation to the handling of my case, the level of communication and the costs being incurred. I was represented by an executive litigator, although I had not specifically requested an executive to handle my case. My concern was that the hourly rate associated with this level of fee earner appeared disproportionate to the relatively straightforward nature of my matter and the level of compensation being discussed. At one stage, £1,000 was offered in compensation. I was subsequently informed that approximately £4,000 in legal costs had been incurred. I was told that a reduction would be made to the bill, but my understanding was that I could ultimately receive only around £100 from the compensation. I found this extremely concerning and felt that I needed a clearer explanation of the work undertaken and the costs incurred. I also had concerns about the handling of my medical evidence. My understanding is that my GP surgery sent the relevant information electronically on more than one occasion, and I personally contacted the surgery to ensure that it had the correct contact details for my solicitor. I was therefore disappointed that, several months into the matter, I was still being told that the medical records had not been downloaded or reviewed. I raised five specific points of complaint with the firm. My complaint was subsequently closed because the response did not agree with my concerns. I respect that the firm is entitled to reach its own view, but I did not feel that my concerns had been adequately addressed. I also asked for a copy of my Conditional Fee Agreement because I had misplaced my copy and wanted to understand the basis of the fees being charged. I was initially directed to look through my emails, but I explained that I could not locate the document and needed a copy so that I could properly understand my position. I was also asked not to send excessive emails to my new paralegal. I understand that solicitors have to manage their workload and that communication needs to be reasonable, but I found this difficult because the emails I was sending related to my ongoing case and were generally responses to matters raised with me. I was particularly disappointed by a request that I not respond using AI. I use AI as an accessibility aid to help organise my thoughts and express them clearly as i have a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder that somtimes makes writing coherently about my issues a struggle. I do not use it to invent facts or evidence; it helps me communicate information that I am otherwise capable of providing but can struggle to put into a clear written format. I appreciate that every case is different and that a solicitor may reasonably disagree with a client's assessment of their case. This review is therefore not intended to suggest that the firm deliberately acted improperly or that anyone intended to cause me financial difficulty. It is simply an honest account of my experience and why I have become dissatisfied with the service I received. I have now raised my concerns with the Legal Ombudsman, who is aware of the issues I have raised. I believe clients should feel able to ask questions about their legal costs, evidence and the way their case is being handled, and should be able to raise a complaint where they disagree with their solicitor's position. That is what I have done. I hope my experience can help other prospective clients understand the importance of asking questions about fees, who will be handling their case, and how evidence and costs will be managed.

This solicitors claim to take actions against public authorities, then tell me they don't do actions against public authorities. False advertising truly

We have one of the largest departments for this type of claim in the country. If we are unable to assist following an enquiry it is because we consider the claim lacks sufficient merit.

★☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience – I would not recommend this firm My experience with Satchell Moran Solicitors was extremely disappointing. I feel completely let down by the way my case was handled from beginning to end. My case concerned a serious leak involving my property and a claim against Westminster Council’s repair service. The leak lasted for more than 8 weeks, and I provided extensive evidence, including photographs and videos showing the condition of the leak, as well as photographs of my furniture and belongings that were damaged as a result. Despite providing all this evidence, I felt that my case was not handled with the level of attention, communication and commitment I expected from a legal firm. Communication was particularly disappointing, and I often felt that I was left without proper updates or clear explanations about what was happening with my case. After going through the stress of a prolonged leak, damaged belongings and dealing with the council, I expected my solicitors to properly support and represent me. Instead, I feel they let me down when I needed them most. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise people to think very carefully before choosing this firm for a housing disrepair or council-related claim. Make sure you fully understand how your case will be handled, what evidence will be considered, and how communication will be maintained throughout. For me, this was a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience, and I would not choose Satchell Moran Solicitors again. I am sharing this review so that others can make an informed decision before instructing them.
