Excessive force by police officers is a civil claim arising when a person suffers unlawful violence or restraint during arrest or while in custody. A solicitor handles the claim in the English courts, gathers evidence such as medical reports, CCTV, and witness statements, and drafts and issues proceedings against the relevant police force. They also advise on liability, causation and damages for pain and injury, and manage disclosure, expert evidence, and settlement negotiations.
The action protects your position by seeking appropriate damages for physical and psychological harm and any financial loss linked to the incident. A solicitor coordinates evidence collection, advises on strategy, and handles procedural steps through the courts within the English system, including interactions with the police and the court process.

I was arrested by the police at my house for no reason, they took me to the police station and left me in the cells for hours. As soon as I contacted Johnsons, I was interviewed within 20 minutes and an hour later I was released without charge.
