General criminal work covers defence and immediate representation for individuals facing criminal charges across the criminal courts. A solicitor practising in this area handles case work from initial police station advice and bail applications to advising at trial in the Magistrates’ Court and, for more serious matters, in the Crown Court. They prepare cases, instruct experts, gather and file evidence, and negotiate or respond to pleas and mitigating factors, always protecting the client’s position in relation to possible custodial outcomes, fines, and ancillary orders.

Where a solicitor protects your position

Criminal proceedings involve time-sensitive decisions that can lead to custodial sentences or serious lifelong consequences. A solicitor in this area ensures lawful handling of bail, disclosure, and plea negotiations, and advocates at hearings and trials, supported by regulatory standards, client confidentiality, and professional accountability. The solicitor may instruct counsel for advocacy in higher courts and manages evidence and witness preparation to advance the client’s defence.

Tagged solicitor Elliot Hammer

I was harassed by a malicious troll attempting, at great length and persisting for several years, to have me prosecuted for some perfectly lawful tweets. Elliot was a rock, completely on top of the brief and very supportive even after the troll also started harassing him. Would highly recommend.
