A Not Guilty Plea covers situations where a person accused of a crime does not admit the charges and asks the court to decide their guilt after evidence is reviewed. A solicitor in England and Wales explains the case, advises on the plea, coordinates disclosure, and represents the client at hearings and trials. They prepare a defence strategy, review police evidence, question witnesses, and ensure the defendant’s rights are protected in magistrates’ or crown court proceedings. The aim is to secure an acquittal or the best possible outcome at trial.

Where a solicitor protects your position

The decision at trial can determine a person’s freedom, future criminal record, and immigration or employment prospects. A solicitor protects the client by scrutinising prosecution disclosures, applying legal standards for admissibility, and conducting robust cross-examination. They also manage deadlines, file relevant notices, and present a clear case for innocence or reasonable doubt within the court’s procedures.

Tagged solicitor Elliot Hammer

I was harassed by a malicious troll attempting, at great length and persisting for several years, to have me prosecuted for some perfectly lawful tweets. Elliot was a rock, completely on top of the brief and very supportive even after the troll also started harassing him. Would highly recommend.
