This area covers criminal cases where the outcome is an acquittal, i.e., a not guilty verdict. A solicitor practising criminal defence investigates the prosecution case, challenges evidence, and advises on trial strategy to secure an acquittal in Crown Court or Magistrates’ Court. They prepare and present the defence, handle disclosure issues, cross‑examine witnesses, apply for bail or conditions, and address any potential appeal or retrial implications if the verdict is not guilty. The work is shaped by the specifics of the case, the evidence, and the trial procedure.

Where a solicitor protects your position

A not guilty result ends the proceedings in favour of the defendant, with possible implications for costs and future rights. A solicitor protects the client’s position by ensuring procedural fairness, advising on post‑trial rights, and addressing any follow‑on steps such as appeals or reporting restrictions where relevant.

Tagged solicitor Elliot Hammer

I was harassed by a malicious troll attempting, at great length and persisting for several years, to have me prosecuted for some perfectly lawful tweets. Elliot was a rock, completely on top of the brief and very supportive even after the troll also started harassing him. Would highly recommend.
