Special Educational Needs covers the support, assessment and planning for children and young people who require additional help to access education. In England, this often involves the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities framework, Education, Health and Care Plans, and local authority duties to identify needs, fund or coordinate provision, and monitor progress. A solicitor in this area drafts and reviews Education, Health and Care needs assessments, advises on disputed plans, and represents clients at appeals and tribunals when necessary. The work is shaped by what benefits the child, family and school require to achieve educational outcomes.

“I can’t thank Samantha Trowbridge enough for her incredible support throughout our EHCP journey. From the very first consultation, she was professional, understanding, and genuinely committed to helping us achieve the best outcome for our daughter. She guided us through every step of the process with clear explanations, expert advice, and real compassion. Her attention to detail, knowledge of the law, and dedication made such a difference and ultimately, led to the positive result that has truly changed our daughter’s future. What stood out most was how approachable and responsive she was. How she held those organisations involved accountable to their commitments and their deadlines. No question ever felt too small, and every concern was handled with patience and care. It was such a relief to have someone so capable and supportive on our side! I would highly recommend Samantha Trowbridge and her team to any parent or carer going through the EHCP process and have done so. Her professionalism, empathy, and determination are second to none. Thank you again for helping us achieve the outcome we so desperately needed!”

“We met James Pantling-Skeet at the Autism Fair at London Excel. We had attended in the hope of finding a solicitor to represent us in our prospective dealings with Essex County Council over our daughter, Grace’s, transition to Social Services’ funding when her EHCP ceased when she reached the age of 25. We were immediately impressed with James and our initial judgment proved correct as we went on to negotiate with Essex a care package for our daughter. Throughout the process, James supported us and was always on hand to give us excellent advice, source and guide an ISW in writing a report for us, and assist with crafting skilfully worded emails to the Authority. More importantly for us, James was always kind and understanding, and brought a wonderful sense of humour to our meetings. We feel most fortunate to have found him and would not hesitate to recommend him. ”

“Put simply, we couldn't have done it without Alex. She kept proceedings on track and applied consistent pressure to the Local Authority, consulting us at each step and giving a considered view of our best approach. She shared great knowledge of schools we could consider and worked seamlessly with our expert witnesses to build a firm case. And ultimately, brought us to a brilliant resolution for our son with a place at the school we identified as best placed to meet his needs.”
