This area covers the state benefits available to people affected by asbestos-related conditions, such as mesothelioma or asbestosis, including payments designed to compensate for disability and loss of earnings. A solicitor practising in this field typically helps identify eligible benefits, gathers medical and employment evidence, and prepares and lodges claims with the Department for Work and Pensions. They may also assist with appeals to the First-tier Tribunal, and advise on related welfare rights from the point of diagnosis through recovery or progression.
Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (and related welfare provisions) can provide ongoing financial support for asbestos-related disablement. A solicitor ensures the medical evidence is complete, coordinates with employers for exposure records, and handles correspondence, deadlines and appeals to protect the client’s entitlement and rights under the scheme, including regulatory safeguards and client-account integrity.

I could not have been happier with the professional and competent handling of my case by the whole team at Spires Legal. They had a real problem with the Insurance Company they were dealing with which they handled extremely well. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.

I have used TG Baynes Solicitors in Dartford on several occasions. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Megan Hawkey was professional and helpful throughout the process and never failed to get back promptly with an email response, or a phone call if we had left her a message. She made time for us, when we had queries over the Declaration of Trust, and when we were driving ourselves quite mad trying to work out the figures, Megan went through them herself which took some time as it was quite a complicated scenario, and reassured us that we had pretty much got it right in the beginning and then provided us with a detailed statement. The customer service was both efficient and personal, and Megan did everything possible to bring matters to a close as quickly as possible, as we had already had one aborted exchange back in the summer. Thank you once again Megan. We’re very appreciative of all your efforts. You’re a credit to the team at TG Baynes.
