The revolving door of case handlers

I have been using SM for a medical negligence case , it’s been a revolving door of people handling my case , i have really lost count now who is managing it. They have been so slow to move to case along , even when they agreed with experts that the case was sound months and months went by without really doing anything , so much so we almost ran out of time .

They couldn’t care less

Very disheartened by the conduct of the clinical negligence department (specifically Simon Wilson). So much time and effort has been put into this to then receive a letter to confirm that your fee earner has disregarded everything you have advised them. Greedy firm just wanting people on their books. Will refer this matter further to the legal ombudsman.

Gross negligence on an epic scale.

This law firm failed to carry out work we instructed them to do on our behalf and of which they accepted payment - due to an incredibly short sighted decision by Greg the CEO to protect its clients from financial ruin myself and my partner now find ourselves on the verge of homelessness and we are now being completely blanked by the company! AVOID USING this company at all costs when there are far more competent alternatives around.

Industrial Disease Compensation Claim

We didn’t even know if we would have a claim to start with and even though this claim has taken a very long time to be settled, Simpson Millar have been very supportive with me all the way through. I am only sad that my companion never got to see any monies from this claim. The communication from the team of admin staff at the solicitors was fantastic, they kept us updated as they received information, which at one point was on a daily basis. I would like to thank all involved for their continued support and and would highly recommend this team of people should you need a specialist solicitor to assist with your claim.

Clinical Negligence case.

I opened up a clinical negligence case on behalf of my daughter in 2011 with Simpson Millar. Had very good communication from the start and everything was always made very clear. Despite the case only closing recently, the level of care and support offered didn't falter during this time. I always felt included, updated and always had great interactions with the staff. I feel like my solicitor (and all those involved) handled my case in professional manner throughout, while also making me feel comfortable to speak openly with them. I am very happy with the commitment and hard work that was put into bringing my case to a successful end. I would definitely recommend using Simpson Millar.

Call screener was completely ignorant of what constitutes medical negligence, made me repeat incidents of GP's incompetence over and over again and refused to transfer me to a supervisor or provide an email address. I recorded the conversation in case of any counter claims and shall ask The Law Society for advice.

Unfortunately, an absolute disgrace of a company, covering up the NHS like you would never believe, different solicitors every few weeks dealing with my case, some of them completely clueless, absolutely disgusting service. Instructing ‘experts’ who just agree with the NHS and how they failed me as a human being, solicitors agreeing with everything other people say and not even fighting my corner, over something that I would never wish anyone else to go through. Terrible.

We appreciate how frustrating it was to have more than one person involved in your case. We agree this is not the experience we want for any client, and we recognise how unsettling it can feel when you are already dealing with something so serious. Therefore any changes are not taken lightly and are only done so when there is no alternative or it is in the best interests of progressing the case. I am sorry you found this upsetting. It’s also important to explain that much of the delay you experienced was caused by the hospital’s slow release of key medical records. These were requested and chased repeatedly over several months, and without them we were unable to move forward with the expert review your case required. Once the full information became available, an independent medical expert reviewed the care you received. Their professional opinion was that the treatment provided met the standard required. We completely understand how distressing and disappointing this was for you to hear, especially given what you have been through, but we must follow the evidence and the conclusions reached by independent experts. We would never try to minimise anyone’s experience or “cover up” concerns raised about treatment and we are sorry you feel this way. When it became clear that the expert evidence did not support a legal claim, we explained this and discussed your options, including seeking a second opinion with another firm. We respect your decision to transfer your case to seek that second opinion and genuinely wish you the very best going forward. One star is to much

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Simpson Millar Solicitors. After four years, my case was ultimately dismissed due to a lack of evidence and poor-quality specialist reports. This outcome was incredibly frustrating given the amount of time invested. Throughout the entire four-year period, I was constantly chasing for updates and progress. Communication was very poor, and there was no sense of continuity — I had approximately 12–13 different case handlers, which made the process chaotic and disorganised. The handling of my case caused me a great deal of unnecessary stress and anxiety. I never felt properly supported or informed, and the service fell well below what I would expect from a professional legal firm. Due to the unacceptable level of service, I am now referring Simpson Millar to the Legal Ombudsman. I would not recommend this firm to anyone seeking reliable, competent legal representation.

Never assessed our claim

Avoid this solicitors. Unfairly dismissed and won our tribunal. Simpson Millar advice was to accept £20,000 based on no calculations of loss , messed up my ET1 form to the tribunal, missed out disability discrimination. We were offered £50,000 before the tribunal. We proved our overtime losses for 18 months was worth £20,000 . Simpson Millar could have and have cost us thousands of pounds.Won unfair dismissal with a different solicitor. Only writing the review to allow others to make a informed decision. Solicitor could not give us the calculation they based there very low figure on , just wanted to settle as quickly as possible.
